The Bottom Line This Christmas newsletter is a work-in-progress! Keep coming back and back again, because it will be getting updated right up through The Twelfth Night (Jan 6, 2005)!!!
Note: As this is a work-in-progress, be sure to check it out from the beginning (if you haven't already) to see how it has progressed to a particular point! Thanks! AJ :o) 11/27/2004 I've decided to move the party to a new location--but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't read what's already here. Anyway, when you get done, please go here: Christmas Newsletter Online (The Sequel) 10/24/2004 I think I'd better insert a live link here to catch anything that doesn't make it over to this comment section but gets put, instead, over in the comment section of a piece telling about this piece, which can be found HERE. If I decide to do something like this again next year, I'm going to be much more organized. For one thing, I'm going to, likely, write the online version in my blog--might even make up a special Christmas blog...anyway, let's get through this year first. Didn't I say that I was going to be out-of-town already!?! Anyway, decided it was smarter to stick around, really get things done, and then hit the road early tomorrow morning and stay put after that until I come home to get my computer worked on instead of breaking up my trip twice. So much for all of that! Cest le vive! or whatever that French phrase is--too busy/lazy to look it up at this time, but I think all of you know what I mean! In plain English, it means, "That's life!" In mouth-watering English it means, "That's the way the cookie crumbles!" In sports-minded English it means, "That's the way the ball bounces!" In Uncle Don English it means, "It either will or it won't!" Say WHAT!?! My cousin, Denise, recently told of how, when she was learning to ride a bike as a kid, she didn't want her dad to let go of the bike while she was on it. "Daddy! What if I fall?" she asked. "Well," he replied, "you either will or you won't!" Perhaps, she fell a few times--or, perhaps, she never did--but she did learn to ride a bike! When I have more time, I think I just might write a piece focused on UncleDonisms! But, for now, I have other fish to fry--or, in my case, pizzas to order... 10/23/2004 Keep checking back, because I'm going to be adding to this before long--but I'll be away from my computer for several days. The next time I add to this, I'll, likely, be working with a cable modem as opposed to (UGH!) dial-up, so I can bring everything together that more quickly and efficiently. What I'll be doing is to be adding more places to go and things to see--but I don't even have them finished yet and no time to finish them now! When I get a working cable modem, I'm going to feel like a pampered princess! For now, that's all she wrote... 10/21/2004 Here I am again--and I'm about to post my newsletter because, God willing and the creek don't rise, I'll be getting this year's newsletters ready so early that the majority of them will be sent out before Halloween. Yep! I'm talking about my snail-mail newsletters--and they will be interesting to say the least, because they will be attached to last year's newsletter, which I've never even sent, along with other items. Anyway, I just wanted to let anyone who happens to be reading this know my plans--which is, unless something changes at the site to where I can't update it (and it'd better not!!!), this online supplement to my real life newsletter (which is also going to serve, in part, as a newsletter of sorts for those reading me only online) will be a work-in-progress through January 6, 2005. At this time, I'm away from my computer a lot and am supposed to be getting some much-needed R&R elsewhere (long story--will be telling it in time), so this will, likely, be all that I write here until sometime in November (Halloween Weekend at the earliest), but I have a little project I want to discuss with you. There are going to be scads of people coming here from my snail-mail group (or, at least there COULD be, though I'm not going to twist their arms and tell them that they not only must get online but, also, that they must come here), so I think it would be fun for them to get to know you--and, if they join, they can also post in my comment section. What should go in my comment section? Well, you might put URLs there leading to Epinions that talk about holiday traditions (not limited to Christmas--could also be Jewish holidays, Muslem holidays, Winter Solstice, etc.--even though I celebrate Christmas and the Savior it celebrates without any apologies). Or, perhaps, you might share a recipe, a product that you think would make a nice holiday gift (e.g. book, toy, cosmetics, records, tapes, computers, DVDs, etc.), and you can do this by placing the URL to it here. Or, if you know of someone and/or some organization that could use some kinds of donations (e.g. cash, sweat, food, noising around, etc.) you can give information about them here. Hey! You can even announce W/Os here! (For those not familiar with the neighborhood--YET!--W/O is short for Write-Off, and a Write-Off is tons of fun and takes a lot of different and wonderful forms!!!) Just pitch in to make my comment section look nice, friendly, and informative--not to mention a little funny, a little sentimental, a little romantic, a little educational, etc. etc. etc. That's all for now... 8/26/2004 By the time you read this--or shortly thereafter--THIS should be taking you to a place where you'll read about my new online store and my books I've recently put up for sale there. At the bottom of the same, you'll find some other links that will somewhat catch you up with me. On down from here (this piece you're reading now), you'll find several delays in putting together this newsletter online. When you read everything, I think you'll understand where I've been "at" during this period of time. This is, in short, part of your Christmas 2003 newsletter, arriving so late that you'd probably given up on getting one--but too early to call it a Christmas 2004 newsletter, so be expecting one of those in a VERY few months! 4/15.2004 This is going into storage until it's really ready to rock & roll. Might be replaced by a new one. . . It's 1/15/04, and this is the very latest update: Just wanted you to know that a real piece of writing will eventually appear in this box. Have just had my thoughts scattered too many other places to put it together. Still, there are a couple of really great links in this piece the way it stands now, so please check them out!!! ******* ******* ******* ******* For those of you reading this now, please be patient, because this is something that I'm not finished with yet. This morning, I'm composing my Christmas newsletter (snail-mail)--which I'm not even aiming at before-Christmas arrival. I'm doing this a bit at a time between paying bills, visiting with my dad (who's home for the holidays), getting rest, taking my mom to the doctor, and trying to work in the things requiring leaving home when it isn't slick underfoot. Tonight, it will (as far as I know) be very slick underfoot, so I'll be back here writing what will actually end up being here--plus addressing, stuffing, stamping, and stickering envelopes containing my Christmas newsletter, which will contain the URL to this. Since I need to have the URL in time to compose the newsletter and get it to the printer's, I've done this mock-up for now. But I'm not going to close this without adding a couple of special links to it right now, so here goes. . . The following will take you to the moving story behind the Pins For Pauly W/O (plus info on how you can join it): http://www.epinions.com/content_3559104644 And this next link will take you to the heartopening story of a very special Christmas planned by a mere child for her younger sisters that had a much greater impact than she ever realized that it would back when she was pulling it off: http://www.epinions.com/content_3597770884 Better get to work on that newsletter now. Even now, I wonder if I can beat the slickness when it comes to getting it written, but--if I don't--I believe that God would have a purpose in its further lateness, just as He has so far. . . UPDATE Christmas Eve Well! I got my snail-mail newsletters printed yesterday, but who knows when I'll get around to sending them out!?! LOLOLOL Seriously, I'll probably address the envelopes in my spare time over the next couple of days and, when it gets to be nice enough, go out and get some more decorative stickers for them--unless I already have enough of those around here. Still working on building this piece the way that it's going to be polished up to look by the time people start getting my newsletter and taking a look-see. That's about it for now. . . |
