The Bottom Line My contribution to sarahlovesadam's Getting to Know Each Other Write-Off.
I noticed some fellow Epinionaters taking part in a new write-off hosted by our new Epinionater sarahlovesadam. It sounded interesting, so I decided to crash the party. Here's a list of fellow participants: alhena anglekissed07 badkittyM barakah59 broomqueesha cerberus435 cntaur5 cjg darkofnight drdevience dustygold fyvel ginzo hawgwyld i_culookn insomnica1587 iluvbirds jankp janteloven jedikermit jennull jev04again jim9356 jordan_tar jps246 Kieli kookytree laurashrti lilvoyce matthewn michelle7898 pilarzmom pnutmom robbudo romasuave scotte1218 smirnoff16 spongebob)man1 sshelle stellarsight tbthorn tiggert12140 travelgall treeseed wifeofvolsfan xiphoid yenfur zar1 Questions: -Birth date: February 12, 1980 -Height: 6'1 -Weight: 194 lbs -Eye colour: blue-green -Hair colour: blond -What does your name mean: Hmm, I'll have to look that one up. I was named Patrick as my mother thought it went well with my Irish-sounding last name. -High school graduation year: 1998 -Favourite relatives: Well, I'm fond of the Phillips', my mother's side of the family, but they're all spread out in Calgary, Massachussets, and Sydney Australia. Fortunately, the McKnight clan whom I am also fond of live close by in the Greater Vancouver area. -Summer memory: I have fond memories of spending a month with our relatives in Massachussets back in '88, though the muggy weather and mosquitoes were almost unbearable. I guess I've been spoiled by the mild Vancouver climate. -Favourite TV shows: Am a big fan of The Simpsons as well as the quirky humour in Seinfeld ("Do you ever notice...") Being an amateur UFO and paranormal buff, I used to be a huge fan of The X-Files, but then the writing started to sleep and David Duchovny decided rainy Vancouver wasn't good enough for him. Appropriately, it rained cats and dogs on LA the year shooting in Vancouver shut down. -Do you believe in yourself: I try to. -Favourite game: As in outdoor game, board game, or computer game? Well, for the first one I'd like to point out that I'm a little too old for outdoor games. Maybe in my next life For the second, I'm quite fond of chess. I frequently challenge the computer to a game whenever I get the chance, though I rarely win. I won't give up though. For the third, that's easy. I play The Michael Jackson Baby Drop on madblast. A truly hilarious game that I recommend all Epinionaters check out. -Favourite drink: I'm a water person, and always keep a water bottle on hand. I used to drink pop until one day I made the mistake of actually reading the ingredients. Know I can't bring myself to even look at the awful stuff. -Favourite food: Pizza, though I'm afraid I'm allergic to most of the ingredients. Not to worry though, there are certain kinds of pizza I can eat. Like the kind without cheese and the crust. -Favourite colours: I love cool colours, green and blue. -Favourite cigarettes: That's kind of like asking what kind of exhaust pipe I like sucking on. I don't suck on exhaust pipes or cigarettes, they're all disgusting. -Favourite smell: Spring! -Favourite thing to do on a weekend: Watch a movie. Same thing for weekdays, though I'm less likely to have time. -Favourite soundtrack: Hard to single out, though film soundtracks often stay stuck in my mind for some time. Some of the best soundtracks I remember are the ones from Citizen Kane, Vertigo, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and ET: the Extra-Terrestrial. -Where do you see yourself in 10 years?: I'm afraid I don't. I'll let you know when I get there though. -First thought in the morning?: "Already???" -Do you get motion sickness?: Not as of late, but yes. -Rollercoasters- deadly or exciting?: Deadly, even from the ground. -How many rings before you answer the phone?: Depends who I think is calling. If I'm expecting a call from a friend or a family member, usually right away. If not, I keep the caller waiting a bit. For some reason, my phone seems to be where all wrong numbers end up being diverted. But then again, I suppose everybody feels like that. -Are you a good friend?: I think so, but then again that's not something you ask people. -Chocolate or Vanilla cake?: That's like asking whether you want applesauce with your pork. Pork is fine on its own, but applesauce adds a little oomph. Chocolate every time. -What do you drive?: I don't. Public transportation is just fine for me. I'm lucky enough to live by the skytrain which can take me downtown in a jiffy without the added stress of finding parking. One of these days though I suppose I'll have to buy one of those stinking, polluting, monstrous road hogs. -Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?: We're getting a little personal here aren't we? No, but I used to sleep with a cute blue T-Rex. Alas, the poor thing is now stuffed away in the bottom drawer of my dresser. -Thunderstorms, cool or scary?: Cool when you're indoors, not cool when you're caught in the storm. -If you could meet one person in the world, who would it be?: Steven Spielberg. I have fond memories of his films growing up, plus he seems like a real nice guy. Spielberg I'm afraid isn't popular these days among critical snobs, mostly due to envy over his success. -What is your zodiac sign?: Aquarius -What do you wear to bed?: My boxers. -Do you eat the stems of broccoli?: What a fascinating question. Yes I do eat the stems, though I skin them first. -Guys- If a girl ever asked you for the shirt on your back, would you give it to her?: I'm assuming there's a sexual subtext here, no? Depends on the girl and whether I want to give up a perfectly good shirt. -If you could have any occupation when you get older, what would it be?: My dream job would probably be a job where I'm free to pursue my interests. Film critic, ufologist, writer, and directing all come to mind. In the end though I'll probably just choose a boring computer job. -If you could dye your hair one colour, what would it be?: I think I'd look good with brown hair. I have no real intention though of dyeing my hair as I think my blond hair is my best feature. -If you could have a tattoo, what and where would it be?: Sorry, I have no intention of mutilating myself. -Favorite brand of gum: Am not much of a gum chewer, but mint is good when you're on a plane. -What is your favorite quote: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" by Samuel Johnson. I think that's an especially relevant quote these days. -Have you ever been in love: Who hasn't? -What's on your walls in your room?: Nothing now, but I used to have a map of the moon, a picture of the galaxy, and a star chart. I was very interested in astronomy as a kid. -Is the glass half empty or half full?: Depends whether I'm on one of my good days or not. Seventy percent of the time, I'd say half full. -Which do you prefer- Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese Doritos?: Neither, I don't care for Doritos. -Favorite flavor Snapple: Don't much care for snapple either. -Which one, Coke or Pepsi?: There's a difference? -Which kind of milk is your favourite: Goat milk. In fact it's the only kind I drink as I'm allergic to cow's. I also drink Soy milk which some people can't stand, but I don't mind. -If you were to kill someone, which method would you use?: That a pretty morbid question. Maybe I'd off someone with an ice pick. Alfred Hitchcock once gave a long speech about the benefits of murder via icepick, citing it as the perfect murder weapon that leaves no evidence behind. You can convince the police the the victim just happened to be tragically hit from above by a giant ice pick, another victim of the holiday weather. -Are you a righty, lefty, or ambidextrous?: I'm right handed. Politically though, I'm a lefty and occasionally ambidextrous. -Do you type with your fingers on the right keys?: Usually, but I'll occasionally cheat when it comes to numbers. -When you meet a person of the opposite sex, you notice their?: That's a trick question. In these days of women's lib, I'm supposed to say personality, but my eyes keep getting diverted to other areas. -What's under your bed?: Hopefully nothing. Care to look and find out? -What's the best number in the World: 11. It represents the armistice. -What is your dream car: A bicycle. -Who is your biggest crush right know: Hey, that's personal! -Nickname: Patty-Me-Boy, but you're not allowed to use it. -School: Langara College. -Bacon Bits or croutons?: Bacon bits. -Favourite Salad Dressing: Italian. -Do you Drink?: Nope, alcohol is one of my allergies. I like getting high on chocolate though. -What type of Shampoo/Conditioner?: Whichever. -Have you ever been skinny dipping?: Sorry, I have no desire to get arrested. -Have you ever been convicted of a crime?: I've been caught with my hand in the cookie jar a number of times. -Do you make fun of people: Yeah, but only when they deserve it, like George Dubya and Wacko Jacko. Feel free to verbally abuse these clowns. -One pillow or two: One. -Pets: None presently, but I used to have some cute guinea pigs and a not-too-bright dog. Sadly, they went the way all pets eventually do. -Favourite Movies: Vertigo, The Wizard of Oz, East of Eden, The Sixth Sense, Citizen Kane. The latter I especially credit with turning me into a film buff (a common story I bet). That last shot of Kane walking past his reflections haunts me. -Favourite Music: Movie soundtracks in general. Bernard Hermann and John Williams spring to mind. -Hobbies: Reading, walking, cooking, surfing the net, Epinions, and blasting the Bushies on imdb.com. -Word or Phrase you overuse: 'Damn', otherwise known as the 'D' word. Using it though relieves tension and keeps me from using other more expletive language. -Toothpaste: Crest, for no particular reason. -Piercing: Nope. -Do you get along with your parents: Most of the time. -Favourite beer: Like I said, no alcohol. -Most humiliating moment: I'm good at doing this. Probably it was after we'd been out jogging in Grade 9 PE class and I was absent-mindedly following the girl in front of me back into the school and accidentally wandered into the girls' changing room. I never heard the end of it after that. In today's world, a mistake like that could probably get me expelled for sexual harassment. -Favourite holiday: The winter holidays (you're not allowed to call it Christmas any more in these politically correct days.) Well, that's all from me for now. Happy Holidays everyone! |
