Favorite relatives: Penguinman, of course!

Summer memory: Woods Hole on Cape Cod, camp in Vermont, the farm in northeastern Pennsylvania

What's on your mousepad: I have two: a photo of a penguin family, and a replica, nap and all, of a Turkish rug

In the car - AC or windows open: Depends on whether or not I’m on the freeway. If yes, AC. If not, windows.

Do you believe in yourself: Yeah. Sure. Whatever.

Favorite game: Various board games, jigsaw puzzles, Big Boggle, gin rummy.

Favorite drink: Nice oaky chardonnay, single-malt scotch, dry champagne, strong flavorful coffee, good water, home-made lemonade, my own eggnog, Darjeeling tea, Prosecco...

Favorite food: Anything carbo - any pasta, good bread, grains, potatoes. Also good dark chocolate, sweetbreads, nothing too sweet.

Favorite colors: Purple, deep true red, teal, sage.

Favorite cigarettes: I quit 30 years ago, but used to smoke Benson & Hedges menthol.

Favorite sounds: Choral music, birds, water, Penguinman’s breathing when he sleeps, champagne corks.

Favorite smell: Freshly mown grass, baking bread, wood fires, burnt matches, wet forests, Penguinman's neck, sauteeing garlic and onions.

Favorite thing to do on a weekend: Cook and eat with friends, hang out by the fire with Penguinman.

If you could have any occupation when you get older, what would it be: Older than I am now? World traveler!

If you could dye your hair one color, what would it be: I could, but wouldn’t. But have always loved deep, dark auburn.

If you could have a tattoo, what and where would it be: A small discreet penguin. But Penguinman has told me many times that when I go shopping for the tattoo, I should also shop for a new husband.

Favorite brand of gum: Any sugarfree peppermint, Bazooka bubble gum for nostalgia’s sake.

What is your favorite quote: Too many to quote here.

Have you ever been in love: Many times, but only once with the right person.

What's on your walls in your room: Quilt, framed sketches and watercolors bought from sidewalk artists in the cities we’ve visited, a couple of lithos.

Is the glass half-empty or half-full: Overflowing.

Which do you prefer - Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese Doritos: Neither. Ugh! Gimme plain Mission tortilla strips every time. Or Cape Cod or Hawaiian kettle chips.

Favorite flavor Snapple: Strawberry kiwi, in very small amounts because it’s so sweet.

Which one, Coke or Pepsi: Coke, definitely.

Which kind of milk is your favorite: Whole for my coffee or tea, skim or 1% for drinking, buttermilk any time.

If you were to kill someone, which method would you use? Kindness.

Are you a righty, lefty, or ambidextrous: Totally lefty. All I can do with my right hand is iron and cut my meat at dinner.

Most humiliating moment: I don’t humiliate very easily. Probably back in first grade, when the speaker at assembly asked a rhetorical questions and I was the ONLY one who answered.

Favorite Holiday: Thanksgiving, hands down.
