I'm one of those fortunate people blessed with naturally blond hair and, if nothing else, it has saved me tons of money over the years by not having to be subjected to dyes, highlighting and whatever else one does to their hair. Heck, I can't even tell if I'm getting gray and don't have to worry about covering up the telltale signs of aging.
But there is always a down side to everything, or is it that we females are never quite content with what we were given at birth? I certainly don't object to the blond hair, what I don't like is that my hair is very fine, therefore has no body, nor does it have that nice shine the "I'm worth it" gals advertise in those shampoo commercials. Not that I spend much time worrying about it. I love sports, keep my hair short and simple, which keeps time in front of the mirror to a minimum. Sorry, guys!
When I went to have my hair cut a few weeks ago, I noticed that the salon was carrying a new line of hair care products. Wild looking bottles in various shapes and loud colors, but I picked one up anyway to check what it said.
First of all I found the product's name catchy:
"ALTERNA ENZYMETHERAPY, Hemp Seed Shine Shampoo, Restores and Shines!"
Sounded good to me already, only to get even better with the following:
"Infused with sweet orange peel, this silky fragrant shampoo lightly clarifies hair while also adding moisture and an elegant shine. THC (drug) free hemp seed oil and nutrient activating enzymes brighten and rejuvenate hair from root to tip. A full spectrum UVA-UVB protectant guards against sun damage"
How could I resist, this sounded like just what I've been looking for, except that another bottle marked "ALTERNA LIFE VOLUMIZING SHAMPOO for fine and thin hair" sounded equally as tempting, with "precious floral extracts, silk proteins and essential fatty acids and enzymes that transform the condition and feel of the hair".
To make a long story short, at $15 each, I ended up buying both bottles and have used them ever since, alternating each day. I can't begin to tell you the total transformation my hair has undergone. It now has plenty of body and even shine! Where was this stuff during my dating years? And I have noticed absolutely no build-up on my hair which has happened with various volumizing shampoos I've used in the past. Both products have a pleasant, light fragrance, not too perfumey. I like the fact that it protects my hair from sun damage, especially since I spend a good bit of time outdoors. But better yet, it is eight weeks later now, and even with daily use, both bottles are still half full, so a little goes a VERY long way. Perhaps, knowing this will help you get over the initial 'sticker shock', although I can tell you that I am so impressed with these products that the price is no longer an issue.
Alterna's hair care line of shampoos, conditioners and styling aids is only sold through authorized salons and not available in retail stores. Check their website www.4alterna.com for the salon closest to you, or for information on their full line of products. They call themselves "A total well being hair care line which combines the latest advances in Western technology with age-old Eastern wisdom". They must be right! My hair has never looked healthier, certainly not something I ever dreamed of saying at my age.
I have also tried their hairspray but have to say that I found it too heavy for my liking. I prefer a very light hold, if any, a product they don't seem to offer in their current line.
If you suffer from limp and dull hair, these shampoos might be a prayer answered. They certainly rank 10+ in my book! My seemingly endless search is finally over, now I only hope that this company is successful and does not go out of business, so any help from you kind readers is much appreciated!
