Tiger Direct is a reliable online source that we've found to have the cheapest computer components (hard drives, motherboards, memory, processors, storage, cards, etc.) and PC products (desktop PCs, digital cameras, monitors, MP3 audio, notebooks, printers and supplies, scanners, and more). Although they carry primarily hardware, Tiger Direct also has some software.
Tiger Direct is THE Online Store where we've spent the most money on the most products. That's not to say that their products are expensive--just that we've ordered a lot of them. Actually, they're bargains. Tiger Direct states that they have over 50,000 computer products in stock at blowout prices. I wouldn't argue with them.
On Tiger Direct's homepage they have two lists: Components and PC Products. I always bypass the two lists and look below to click on "View all Categories and Manufacturers". If you know what you want or have a pretty good idea, it's usually easy to find almost anything here. Most of their products are new but some are refurbished or factory recertified and are always stated as such.
Their homepage displays their current weekly sale items and the week's top 3 e-mail offers (which you'll receive only too regularly if you become a customer). It is not necessary to order one of their sale items in order to get a good price. (I'm not sure if we've ever ordered a sale item.) They also have an Online Rebate Center. Finding a rebate for an item you want is another matter, but we've found one a couple of times. Of course, some customers probably do it in reverse and find something they want from among the rebates! (This is kind of like making out a grocery list from your coupons, which I used to do when I was younger.)
A few years ago my husband and I started ordering computer components and finished computer products by phone from Tiger Direct's catalog. More recently we switched to ordering from their website, usually placing our order directly through their website.
However, if we have questions, we find the product on one of their webpages and then call their 800 number (shown on their website) to talk to a customer service representative. When they answer the phone, they already knows our phone number, name, and customer number, which they ask us to verify. Their representatives have always been knowledgeable and we've always been satisfied with their answers to our questions. Then we go ahead and order the product on the phone with the person to whom we're already speaking as this is easier than filling in the information on their website.
I'm sure we've placed at least 25 to 30 orders from Tiger Direct and we've never had any problems with either their products, their billing, or their customer service. (I'm ordering a lot more from them now that they're online.) They always send an email the next day stating when and how the order was shipped. It is also possible to check Order Status on their website. I believe our orders have always been shipped within 24 to 48 hours. The only imperfection that we've found is that shipment is usually not made soon enough after ordering to receive it the next day even if shipped by Next Day delivery. If shipped Next Day delivery it usually arrives in 2 business days from the day ordered, or in 3 business days if ordered by Second Day delivery. I don't recall that they've ever backordered.
Over time we have ordered a wide range of their products, from motherboards and modems and hard drives to scanners and monitors and printer cartridges. All have been completely satisfactory. I believe that we have ordered only one refurbished item, a Dell Trinitron monitor at a price we couldn't pass up. It has performed like new. (I'm looking at it now.)
Unless we have to have something the same day or next day, we always order needed computer components and products from Tiger Direct. Our many orders over a few years time have been completely satisfactory.
