The Bottom Line Every house should have a first aid kit. you never know when a situation where you needed medical attention was to occur. Follow the list.
There are certain items that should be in every first aid box, and every single household should have at least one first aid box.Just in case something happens and you need medical help quickly, it is good to have a first aid box somewhere close by. 1) List of important phone numbers A list of all important phone numbers such as Poison Control, the doctor, neighbors and relatives, police, any phone number you may have to call in case of emergency. I also have the same list near the phones in my house as well as in the first aid kit. 2) Flashlight Every first aid kit has to have a flashlight just in case the power goes out or you are in a dark spot, or if you have to look at something closely the flashlight can help. The smaller the better, because you want to fit everything in one small box. 3) Tylenol or Pain Reliever This is a very important item because most of the time you open a first aid kit it is because someone is in pain and needs medicine. Every first aid box needs to have this in it. 4) Small Scissors IN case you need to cut a bandage or wrapping tape, whatever scissors can definately come i handy. 5) Tweezers Tweezers are very important for a few reasons, like if someone has a splinter, or even worse, a piece of glass stuck in their skin and you need to get it out quickly to prevent infection. That is what tweezers are good for. 6) Rubbing Alcohol/Hydrogen peroxide This can be used for cleaning things such as the scissors or tweezers, and can also be used to treat a wound. You can pour the alcohol onto a cotton ball to do this. 7) Calamine Lotion Good to stop itching from anything from poison ivy to bug bites ect. This is an important item also. 8) ACE bandages Good to use for wrapping up a larger wound, because it is good to put pressure on it. Also it can be used to make a pretty good sling for a broken arm or other injuries. This is one of the must haves for your first aid box. 9) Gauze pads Can be used to apply ointment to a cut or wound easily. 10) Thermometer A good thing to have if someone is sick and you need to take thier temperature. If someone has the flu this is a very important item. 11) First Aid Manual You should have this also to help you to decide what to do in certain situations in you do not know what to do. You need to have this in your box. All these items will make a very nice first aid kit for your home. You should really have two in your home just so you are always near one if a situation were to occur, because that situation could happen at any given time.
