Birthdate: September, 1948….I am glad to be here at any age.

Height: 5'5"

Eye color: Dark Brown

Hair color: dark brown and graying

What does your name mean: I just discovered that my name, Lavonne, is an English name that refers to a yew tree. It is a strong, water-proof tree that can be used as poison or for medicinal purposes. It was used by Druids to build temples. I never knew this until this write-off.

High school graduation year: 1967

Favorite relatives: Husband, daughters, and son-in-law

Summer memory: The road trip moving to Arizona from Virginia during the summer of my daughter’s graduation.

Favorite TV shows: Jeopardy; The Today Show; a few religious presentations; Golden Girls.

What's on your mousepad: I don’t use one now, but I have one with water droplets designed on it.

In the car- ac or windows: Um... A/C.

Do you believe in yourself: Yes

Favorite game: Free Cell and Spider Solitaire are my current diversions. I have been known to play a mean game of Monopoly. I enjoy most card games.

Favorite drink: I have been accused of liking strawberry daiquiris too much.

Favorite food: Cheeseburgers can be superb. I also like fish of any denomination.

Favorite colors: Navy; purple

Favorite cigarettes: The ones that never get smoked! I don’t like cigarettes. However, live and let live; to each his/her own.

Favorite sounds: The sounds of my children watching TV or playing video games is very comforting. Hubby puttering in the garage is also a good sound.

Favorite smell: Irish Lenin, clean and starched is terrific. I like to smell fresh coffee in the morning even though I do not drink it.

Favorite thing to do on a weekend: I am a woman with a purpose; I want to work.

Favorite soundtrack: Forrest Gump

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: Hopefully, I will be a wealthy retiree.

First thought in the morning: Hey, it’s 5:00 a.m.! Too early!

Do you get motion sickness: No

Rollercoaster’s- deadly or exciting: Exciting; I love rollercoasters!

How many rings before you answer the phone: I can usually get there by the 2nd or 3rd ring on average. But if I'm expecting a call from someone I don't want to talk to, I'll just let the machine get it. I like to check the caller ID before answering whenever possible.

Are you a good friend: I hope so? I'm probably the best listener you'll ever meet. If you are good or friendly to me and show a consistently trustworthy character, I’ll be loyal to you for life. I have a few long-time friends and prayer partners.

Chocolate or Vanilla cake: Both, please.

What do you drive: 2003 Mercury Sable; a “perfect Mom’s car” say my girls.

Do you sleep with a stuffed animal: No!

Thunderstorms cool or scary: Totally cool!

If you could meet one person in the World, who would it be: I would like to sit down and have a chat with a totally receptive and helpful Eleanor Roosevelt or maybe Hillary Clinton.

What is your zodiac sign: Libra

What do you wear to bed: Usually, some sort of a gown.

Do you eat stems of broccoli: Absolutely ! I love broccoli in any shape or form.

Girls: Would you ever ask a guy for his shirt? Never have; no need. I don’t think that is a cute thing to do.

If you could have any occupation when you get older, what would it be: College professor

If you could dye your hair one color, what would it be: I made a pact with myself in my younger days never to dye my hair. So far, I am true to my pact. I have a serious desire to be honest about… whatever. That’s why I keep my hair natural and tell my age without hesitation. I am only human and I don’t need a lot of secrets to bog me down. My life is an open book. If others want to be judgmental, I feel that is their prerogative; I don’t care what others think. No one is required to like me, but I hope we can be civil and accepting of one another. “Live and let live” is a pretty good cliché’. One thing I do not blurt out without hesitation is my weight. My weight constantly changes; therefore, I couldn’t honestly tell it anyway. I am happy to say I have lost a few pounds recently through no effort of my own.

If you could have a tattoo, what and where would it be: I have never seen a tattoo I liked.

Favorite brand of gum: I am not a gum chewer. My dentist recently gave me a sample of Arm and Hammer, and it’s not too bad.

What is your favorite quote: I enjoy many quotes, but, sorry, no favorites.

Have you ever been in love: I have been in love since the summer of 1971. I learned that love is not what you get from someone else. Rather, love is consideration you give to others. When shared with a special person, there is nothing comparable, for goodness sake.

What's on your walls in your room: Dull white paint mostly. I really need to do some renovation! I do have a special framed sketch done by my daughter of an ape-like creature cuddling its baby. It is sooooo precious.

Is the glass half-empty or half-full: My glass is usually half-full.

Which do you prefer- Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese Doritos: Nacho Cheese, but I am trying to cut back on salt.

Favorite flavor Snapple: I tried Snapple once. I don't like Snapple.

Which one, Coke or Pepsi: I much prefer Coke over Pepsi although I will drink Pepsi in a pinch.

Which kind of milk is your favorite: I truly like skim milk, but I buy 2% for my husband.

If you were to kill someone, which method would you use: If I ever have a disagreement with someone, I usually avoid them altogether for a long, long, long time; and then I may/may not finally go out of my way to try some sort of kindness for them. I guess I kill swiftly and silently. I accept most people unconditionally until they do something really bad like lying, cheating, stealing, murder, or adultery. To be polite in our society, we have to be hypocritical to some extent. However, there is a degree of hypocrisy that I can’t abide. The kindest thing I do for my enemies is leave them alone. It is very difficult sometimes, but I try to respect all individuals as human beings. If someone behaves obviously disrespectfully of others for no REAL reason, I just do not want them in my life. I hate sexism and racism and I am trying to cleanse my own life of both these terrors. I am not trying to kill anyone with this essay, but boredom might do it.

Bacon Bits Or croutons: Both!

Favorite Salad Dressing: Fat Free Ranch

Do you Drink: I assume you mean alcohol. Rarely, only on social occasions; and then, just one shot per social occasion.

What type of Shampoo/Conditioner: Prell is my favorite shampoo since childhood. Recently, though, I have used Alberto VO5 successfully. I love clean hair!

Have you ever been skinny dipping: No; I enjoy swimming, but never in the nude.

Do you make fun of people: I try NOT to make fun of anyone unless there is someone who is just trying to be comical.

Have you ever been convicted of a crime: Only speeding, but that doesn't really count. I can't drive 55! I notice I share this answer with my daughter.

One pillow or two: One

Pets: None of my own, but my daughter has a cat in our home now. I enjoy and appreciate cats. Giving me an animal has been a mistake that some people have made. I love animals, but I unfortunately get them when they are old and ready to pass; or else, they get into the road and a car gets them. Losing a pet is like losing a dear friend; I would rather not do it.

Favorite Movies: Forrest Gump, Harry Potter series, Happy Gilmore.

Favorite type of music: Classic rock. I really like blues, folk and country-influenced stuff too. I have enjoyed all kinds of music over the years; I especially enjoy live performances of any genre’.

Favorite Holiday: On some occasions, I have celebrated The Feast of Tabernacles with a special church group. That is really the best holiday you can imagine. It is Christmas and summer vacation all rolled into one. I don’t celebrate this anymore but I enjoy all time off from work.
