The Bottom Line This is the Soundtrack to the Movie of My Life.
Terry Rader, aka rader6795, is hosting a write off entitled The Soundtrack to My Life Write-Off. At this point the participant list for this write off is small but if you want to join in go ahead and let Rader6795 know about it. Here is a list of participants: Rader6795, Arada392, Mimi369,Tanta07, and me (Debbie26). You could always add your name here. *Links to contributions can be found at the end* The basic concept of this write off is to come up with a soundtrack list that would relate to your life. Rader6795 said "If there were a movie about you, what songs would be on the soundtrack and how would it relate to who you are, who your friends are and what moments in your life are?" I thought that this would be a fairly easy task to accomplish and I started by listing some of my all time favorite songs from various genre. However, it didn't take me long to realize that it wasn't going to be as simple as making a list of my favorite songs. In fact, many of my favorite songs didn't actually fit into a soundtrack about my life. I had to scrap it all and start over. It was then that I realized that it was more important to think about the events in my life that would be most important and thus would be included in a movie about me and then try to find songs (even if they aren't my favorites) that fit into those times of my life. Here is the list of songs 1. Get The Party Started - Pink 2. Perfect - Simple Plan 3. I'm With You - Avril Levin 4. Take My Breath Away - Berlin 5. You're The Inspiration - Chicago 6. Beautiful - Christina Aguilera 7. Can't Cry Hard Enough - Williams Brothers 8. That's What Friends are For - Elton John 9. Beautiful Mess - Diamond Rio 10. Proud To Be An American - Lee Greenwood 11. Dance With My Father Again - Luther Vandross 12. Time Of Your Life - Greenday The Scenes Now that you have the list of songs I thought I would explain why and how exactly they would fit into a movie of my life. 1. Get The Party Started - Pink This would play at the beginning of the movie as I was being born. It describes the beginning of my life perfectly, "Everybody's waitin' for me to arrive". Plus it is an upbeat song and if life isn't a party than I don't know what is. So my life being compared to "the party" would then be beginning. 2. Perfect - Simple Plan This song would play through a montage of my childhood when my father left my family and I always felt that it was because I wasn't good enough. I felt like if I just tried harder he would come back to us but I was never good enough and certainly not perfect. A portion of this song that totally describes how I felt at that point in my life is.... "And now I try hard to make it I just want to make you proud I'm never gonna be good enough for you I can't pretend that I'm all right and you can't change me 'Cuz we lost it all Nothing last for ever I'm sorry I can't be perfect Now it's just too late and we can't go back I'm sorry I can't be perfect" 3. I'm With You - Avril Levin This song would play a little later in my adolescence when I was still lost from having had a very difficult childhood without my father. In addition, I was a victim of sexual abuse and was left with a feeling of emptiness and not really knowing who I was. I didn't know how to be me and I only wanted someone to like me and therefore would have done ANYTHING to fit in. That is sort of what this song is all about. It is about a girl who doesn't really know who she is, or who her friends are, and therefore she is willing to go along with anything someone wants. During this song there would probably be some scene of my life where I allowed others to lead me into trouble because I felt like at least I had someone, even if they were trouble. 4. Take My Breath Away - Berlin Isn't this the ultimate love song? It would have to be playing when I met my now husband. I was only 13 years old at the time when I met him but I felt like I couldn't breath, couldn't think. It was "puppy love at first sight" but it grew into so much more. It would probably play again, later in the movie of my life as we actually grew and fell into real love. 5. You're The Inspiration - Chicago This song would play after I gave birth to my first son, while I was holding him and looking into his beautiful face. Because he changed my life and actually gave me direction. Even though I was young, I had been through a tough life. With his birth I suddenly had meaning, I knew who I was. 6. Beautiful - Christina Aguilera This is a song about how a person is beautiful no matter what others are saying. It is a strong song that brings forth a feeling that you are beautiful based on who you are and not what others perceive you to be. A time in my life when this song would have been played is while I was pregnant with my son. I became pregnant before getting married (5 years after meeting my now husband). In fact, I was still in high school. I had above average grades and was allowed to graduate early but was not allowed to go through the graduation process because it would be an embarrassment to my school. I was going to a very exclusive school with traditional values. Not only couldn't I attend graduation or the prom but I lost a few friends. But I did get to attend the prom shortly after my son was born because a close friend took me as his date. Beautiful would be the perfect song to play while at the prom. 7. Can't Cry Hard Enough - Williams Brothers This song would play during the saddest time of my life, when my father passed away. This song is so truthful in it's simplistic phrasing..... "I can't cry hard enough for you to hear me now." The loss was so unexpected and effected me very deeply. I think it was worse because I had missed out on so much with my father and we were just beginning to have a relationship again 8. That's What Friends are For - Elton John Shortly after the loss of my father I had a tubal pregnancy and it was allowed to continue until my tube ruptured. I had thought all along that this was a normal pregnancy and it was unexpected when I had to have emergency surgery. After the loss of my father and my unborn child I had a few close friends help me out and I know that without them I couldn't have made it. This song would be perfect to get that point across. The scene would happen sometime after these tragedies in my life and would show me actually having a good time with those friends who have stood by me. 9. Beautiful Mess - Diamond Rio I think that Beautiful Mess describes exactly what I got myself into when I became pregnant with triplets. I think that this song would play with a montage of me first discovering that they were indeed triplets, then being on bed rest in the hospital, then delivering the triplets, and lastly me taking care of infant triplets. 10. Proud To Be An American - Lee Greenwood I had never given much thought to being an American until 09/11/2001. Then I suddenly realized what it all meant. I began to try to help out and volunteer. I suddenly realized that I needed a stronger part of my community. This song could play while I am volunteering in the community which has become a big part of my life. 11. Dance With My Father Again - Luther Vandross Shortly after 9/11 I lost my father in law and not only did I mourn for him but it also reopened the painful sore left behind by my own father's death. Keep in mind that my husband and I have been together since we were 13 years of age, my father in law was just like a father of my own. I had known him for a long time. Dance With My Father is a very touching song about having one more chance to be with a lost loved one. Every day I feel this desire inside of me. 12. Time Of Your Life - Greenday When the story of my life ends this song would play. It is exactly what I hope for myself, my loved ones, and everyone. I hope that everyone had a wonderful time in their lives, no matter what else happened. In the end, I hope that I was able to take time to enjoy myself. ***************************************************** Now that the soundtrack for my movie has been completed someone needs to contact a movie studio and pitch the idea.
