The Bottom Line ...
Back after a two month respite... First, An Apology Recently, I had a falling out with another writer over something pretty innocuous (namely, a list I had done). Things got heated for no reason, I said a few things I didn't mean, he attacked me in various comment sections and la da da da da. Basically I just want to say to this person that I apologize for letting things get out of hand and for inciting it even more. The olive branch has been extended... Britney, Britney, Britney Can someone explain to me what the f*ck the point was of her getting married? Was it just another thing to add on to her non-stop "the media MUST be focused on me" obsession? It was all a "joke?" F*cking stupid. Honestly. Scott Stapp on Celebrity Poker No, really, this actually was on TV this past weekend. Please tell me I wasn't the only one who saw it. Stapp playing poker with Tom Green, David Cross and others. It was priceless, he was just as much a stuck up piece of sh*t a*s playing poker as he is in his videos and on stage. The best part was when David Cross b*tch slapped him by beating him out of a $40,000 pot. Now THAT is quality reality TV. The Aiken/Clarkson Tour... Alright, picture this. You're trying to break out of the mold set for you not just by critics, but by many many fans as well. You want to prove you're more than just some record company BJ artist. So what do you do? Why, a headlining tour with ANOTHER record company BJ artist of course! With all due respect to each performer, how much of a "headlining" set can they each actually do? An hour tops? And I can only imagine what ticket prices are gonna be... In Other Co-Headlining Tour News... Rumors have it that The Vines and Jet are planning a spring trek in the US together. No word yet on whether the official title of the tour will be the "Not An Original Bone In Their Catalog" Tour...Meanwhile, I'm sure that that Ludacris tour with Chingy as the opening act will be "da bomb"...I'd rather have my eyeballs poked out with red hot pokers than listen to anything by Chingy ever again... The Grammys...Another Year, Another Bunch of Wrongs Warren Zevon not being nominated for Album of the Year is a f*cking travesty. What's worse is that they probably didn't nominate him just so they wouldn't have to deal with the catcalls of people who claim he would only get the noms because he passed away...anyone who's listened to The Wind knows differently, and anyone who says the above WITHOUT listening to it is f*cking ignorant of the facts. You want more embarrassments? How about Nickelback being nominated for best ANYTHING? Fountains of Wayne being nominated for best new artist when they put out their first album in the mid 1990s. And the absolute worst, most wretched song on Avril Lavigne's album (I'm With You) being nominated for Song of the Year. Honestly, they seem to make bigger a*ses out of themselves every single year... The Darkness...A Joke Gone Too Far? Rumors persist that this band was a joke that went too far, and that they are anxious to prove themselves as a solid hard rock outfit...the problem is is that the record label is loving it because the "joke" is selling lots of records...the band jumped up 53 chart spots to #39 on this week's album chart, no doubt helped in part by the album only being $8 at both giant retail chains Best Buy and Target...congrats to the guys, they certainly deserve the success for such a fun, good time album Aerosmith...The Blues Album...March A source VERY VERY close to the band informed me that the recording for the new album should be done by the end of next week at the latest, and should be on shelves by March or so...here's hoping this thing kicks as much a*s as possible B2K...They Just Didn't Have The Right Stuff... Come on, anyone who's surprised by this is not paying attention...just about every video I've watched of these guys seemed to pay 10X more attention to Omarion than any other guy...the other guys may as well have been backup dancers and singers to him...besides, it's B2K, they were a harmless little group and now, hopefully, they are gone forever, never to annoy me again Am I the Only One... ...who noticed that the new Tantric song sounded just like all the other Tantric songs before it? ...who wonders why Ben Moody would leave Evanescence and then go to work with Avril Lavigne? ...who wonders if ANYONE is buying that new Puddle of Mudd album, and if they are, who wonders how long it is before it ends up on Half.com? ...who wonders what kind of naked pictures Nickelback has of radio programmers? Most bands would have had radio drop their first single after the tepid reaction Someday got, but here we are, 4 months later, and they're still trying to make it a hit, and still with tepid results...
