I've been an active eBay seller and buyer for the past two years. In that time, I have not met one dishonest seller, however I have had a lot of people say that they never got their items they won from me...but when you use delivery confirmation, its very easy to prove them wrong! Even on-line, people try to work the system and get free stuff. As far as the customer service, it is very good. Not excellent, because I think that some of the customer service reps should take a phone ettiquite class and learn better english, but as a whole, the customer service department is great. The selling fees have jumped slightly, and with the volume of auctions that eBay hosts, one would assume that they are already making enough money, but business is business and thats juat not the way it works sometimes.
I am disappointed about the restrictions on "adult" related items. As a wholesaler of adult reelated DVD/VHS and marital aids, I feel that I should be given the same amount of exposure as someone selling Pokemon toys and computers. Ok, the good thing about having to use your credit card to access the mature audiences section is that you don't have to worry about 12 year old kids buying stuff (unless they are stealing their mommy and daddy's credit cards!!!). As if that wasn't bad enough, there are a lot of restrictions on the types of pictures and descriptions of the items that you can post. When you can't show someone what something looks like (I.E. picture on a VHS cover or a marital aid in original packaging) or give them an accurate description or even the video rating, there is an extremely lower chance that they will buy it from you...people want to see what you have to sell them, its a proven fact that the items with pictures get many more page views.
Other than the problems with the mature audiences section, eBay is truly a gem on the internet. The feedback ratings give you a good idea of the sellers and buyers you're dealing with and the search function is very easy to use, so you can find ANYTHING you want!
