For me, Half.com was the first and still one of the best discount online shopping sites. I have literally purchased hundreds of items at unbelievable prices and usually these things (such as books, dvd's, cd's, and video games) are in great condition. I have had to return a few items and Half.com always supervised my refund. The site uses a buyer/seller rating system (shared with one's eBay account rating) and smart buyers and sellers use this religiously as an indication of transaction security. I have never had a problem with a highly rated seller or buyer. It's a great peer-review system. With a site like Half.com, eBay, and Amazon's reseller section; there's really no reason to ever buy something at the new price. You can pretty much find anything in perfect condition for a ridiculously low price. The only negative I can say about Half.com is that customer support can be a difficult thing to browse through. Every now and then, the site is updated and things move or disappear or the way it works changes. So, one must hunt for things at times. It could be much easier and hopefully this will be addressed. Still, after the hunt, I have always found what I was looking for. Customer service exists but they don't encourage it openly. I guess they try to save money this way- fewer persons needed. And they certainly encourage buyer to seller communication to resolve issues before getting their people involved. I don't mind this and it has usually worked. When I did need Half.com's intervention, they did and I got the results I was expecting. I've been shopping AND selling at Half.com for many years now and will continue to do so. "USED" ain't what it used to be!
