Now Mark.,..

Was it not you who wanted to plant fake artifacts to be discovered later thus building your own empire? I don't see us being that far apart on this one... heh.

As soon as I get back from this trip with James to set Scottish history back to rights in the Panama area, we'll go fix the 12th Century.

... you did know that the Scots actually attempted to colonize a small part of Latin America? In the 15th century an expedition of half a dozen or so ships and several hundred colononists and soldiers established a colony in what is present day Panama near the Colombian border.

It was to be the start of the "Scottish Empire" and the place was chosen for its strategic importance in international trade. Those canny Scots thought if they could build a road across Panama or even a big ditch or canal then they could dominate east-west trade. They actually had started on the road and made plans for the canal when the colony collapsed.

It seems they neglected to inform the Brits, the Spanish, and the local natives of their intent to establish the colony and well all those sasinachs objected and attacked the colony. The financial loss actually bankrupted several major Scottish companies that had financed the expedition.

With a billion or so in the bank we could of course re establish the place. I't in the Darrien Gap and no one goes there. Think of it kilts, white sand beaches, bagpipes, palm trees, fresh lobster and haggis......

... comment is standard for any person with a cat that lives with them. I'm nothing but a piece of furniture that happens to dispense food when the bap me in the face.

Cats know this. The convienance of their purring and "cuteness" play with us is secondary to naptime and watching birds fly past the window.

Cheers,

Censorship...

2. If you could go back in time and do one thing over, what would it be?

Ok this will piss some folks off majorly.. I go back and stop the Bible from being printed. Sorry man.. it's that whole bloodshed thang, yanno? Hey, you put me on the polygraph, I had to tell the truth!

Stopping the presses on it wouldn't have stopped the bloodshed doc. The majority of the people couldn't read it anyway. In fact it was having a copy available that inspired many to want to learn to read. It's a long complicated but interesting history. But over all their has been more good come from the Bible than violence.

After all, certain parts of the male anatomy shrink when they're cold.. Ya wouldn't want that, now would ya?

Oh, my, hadn't though of that, though Drew makes a compelling case for the warmth and seafood of Scotland.

Hi (Reply to this comment)

It's not that cold in Scotland, honest.

In the more 'tropical' regions, where I live, some years we can go all winter without snow. Of course, up in the highlands, it can snow in July!

As for seafood, the waters off Scotland are teeming with lobsters prawns etc. Did you know the biggest fishing port in Europe is Peterhead? The fishing fleets come from as far away as Russia to fish our waters.
Chances are, the lobster tails you're scoffing on the South of France have arrived that morning on a refridgerated truck from somewhere a good deal north of Paris.

One thing you could be sure of though, I'd do my very best to keep you warm....

C'mon, come to Scotland!

If I were you, I think I'd skip Scotland, go to a warmer climate where it'd be easier to get fresh lobster claws and/or crab legs and then use your billion dollars to fly the men with the kilts in.. After all, certain parts of the male anatomy shrink when they're cold.. Ya wouldn't want that, now would ya?
