I could have written this review, not as well, but with the same details. I downloaded it for the same reason and hated it for the same reasons. I still cannot figure out why anyone would need this cookie monster.

Thanks for yet another truly wonderful review!

I don't know how it got on my computer, but it kept popping up at all times. I finally got rid of it for good. Good riddance.

I didn't know that they changed the ads just that I was getting loads of email as a result of Gator. It took me a while to realize what windows did already. Infact Windows helped with more form filling than Gator did. I soon uninstalled when I was running out of RAM.

Good article

"Epinions.com and yes, even Yahoo.com will be affected by this."

This explains why more and more sites are resorting to Macromedia Flash advertisements. As long as the plug-in is installed, these ads will appear.

Of all the ad blockers that I've come across, none were designed to block these types of ads.

In today's Arizona Republic business section, Gator was the focus of a reader's question.

In Ken Colburn's reply, he stated that we should read the EULA (End User License Agreement) because at the end of Gator's, people agree to all sorts of their personal information being available to them, they can TRACK you on the Web and sell your info to "targeted advertising."

www.DataDoctor's.com

You've done a good service to Epinions' members.

Great Review,

Great review. It was very informative. I knew a little about Gator, saving passwords, but that was it. I didn't know it did that with the banners. That doesn't seem right to me either.
It was on this computer for a very short time - also because of points for signup from another program. I never used it. It hogged the RAM on here, and caused my computer to crash more than once. After I deleted it - I wanted to wait a few days anyway to get the points - then I wasn't having as much trouble with the computer anymore. It was messing mine up somehow.

Thanks for the info on Gator. I've been thinking of checking it out for well over a year. Now I know to keep avoiding it. Thanks! =)
