Being a person that is a bit on the shy side and not the type to actively seek out a mate, I took to talking to men in the Internet. I had heard good stories and many horror stories but since I really wanted someone in my life I figured what to heck, I might as well try it. I joined a lot of dating sites and had many dates too numerous to mention. I soon discovered that these dating sites were sort of like meeting someone in a bar.I was determined to find my soulmate. After a couple of years of this type of dating and meeting people I was getting awfully tired of it and about ready to give up. I have a yahoo group basically for sending away for freebies. Many people never posted at all. Last summer I was under a lot of stress and decided to take a vacation for a week just to get away and unwind. When I came home to tons of e-mails there was a simple one from a group member named Billy that simply said welcome home Rosie we missed you. Since he hadn't posted to the list before I was curious so off I went to check his profile and sure enough he was single and we had a lot in common. What almost stopped me was the fact he lived in Iowa and I live in Massachusetts. I thought about it and said well lets just talk to him and be friends. We started talking on yahoo messenger in May of last year. Within a couple of weeks we went to talking on the telephone and making plans to meet. He arrived here on July 11 planning on a 2 week visit to see if things worked out and he never went back home. He had asked me to marry him and I said yes and he just stayed. I wanted to let everyone know that love on the Internet can work out. I have also learned that it happens when you least expect it. If it was meant to be it will find you. He is all I ever dreamed off and more. We have not set a date yet as neither of us are in any hurry now that we know nothing can change the way we feel. I would love to hear from other people who have had online romances and how they worked for you  |
