As for Interview.... she read the book first and thinks the movie screwed that up.
I'll let her speak for herself on the other ;)

I noticed you neither mentioned Interview with the Vampire nor Love at First Bite. Does that mean you overlooked them or just plain didn't like them?

But don't worry--y'ain't that old....
You left off a sexy (even romantic) little film I might have included...1983's The Hunger with David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarandon (c'mon, there's gotta be a "Wow" in there somewhere!), directed by Tony (Riddley's brother) Scott, who also directed Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, and Enemy of the State. Even a brief appearance by Dafoe!
Take care, babe. Cool list!

Oh yeah.
I watch that thing at LEAST once a year since it came out. I finally bought it on VHS about 7 years ago, and on DVD 2 years ago.
Strangely, I /still/ haven't bought the soundtrack. The Gerard McMahon song is absolutely awesome though...

Yeah... Vampire's Kiss was in the top ten in several versions of this list. I'm still thinking I shoulda left it up there.
Buying those fake fangs was just one of the best scenes ever.
And do get Immortality. Very good flick.

Nice list.
Just taking your picks and your honorable mentions I would have switched things up a bit, but still a nice list. Also got me to put Immortality on my queue since I haven't seen it.
And, I agree, Fright Night is a cool little flick, although I don't know about any best list.
It's still Nicolas Cage as 'not really a' vampire that I love the most.

Quite a list, but.. (Reply to this comment)
by edmaidel
...as you must have expected, there are those of us who disagree with your choices. To include John Carpenter's Vampires and to exclude Hammer's best, Horror of Dracula is something for which you deserve a cross seared onto your forehead, so watch out!
Also, Salem's Lot was just shown in an updated version on TNT, and was quite a bit different from the TV film of the late 70's with David Soul. I read the book back then, and don't remember which was more faithful, but each is quite good in its own respect.
And any mention whatsoever of The Satanic Rites of Dracula except for ridicule and howls of protest is sufficient grounds for yet another "cross-searing."
Just my opinion, but my incisors are very sharp!

So nice to see this one make someone's list, as it has been overlooked by so many. Odd little film, but there is something utterly captivating about it. Ok, yeah, it's Jude, lol. After my last renting of this film, I promised myself I would buy it before renting Again. lol, I just broke that promise and rented it Again last week. One more rental, and I will have paid for the dang thing!

Ooooh, nice list! Vampire flicks, one of my favourite kind of flick.. particularly likin' that you have The Lost Boys and From Dusk Till Dawn on here.. and Salem's Lot got an honourable mention, even though it scared the crap out of me as a child, and I'm now emotionally scarred.
I would have chosen Blade, too, but only because I think Snipes is cool and Dorff is cute. LOL
Cheers!
