I have to say this- I found a CD case in my school's parking lot, and after a month or so, nobody claimed it. I was getting ready to goodwill the CDs, (can't sell them: no cases :() but I decided to check out their reviews here. This is the 3rd one (out of 5!) that has you as the most helpful review. I thought that was pretty spiffy, apparently the owner of the CDs had similar musics tastes as you.

This Wood fellow... (Reply to this comment)

Your instincts are right. Andrew Wood was (and still is) hugely respected in the Seattle music community. But then again it was one great, big incestuous family. Wood & Cornell were roommates. Wood joined Mother Love Bone after fronting Malfunkshun, and Stone & Jeff came over from Green River (which also included Mudhoney's Mark Arm). Much as I love Kurt, it was Andrew's death that was the more deeply felt tragedy to those of us living in the moment.

Listening to this CD is like watching a Kevin Smith movie; there are so many personal notes and touches at work on multiple levels, but are enjoyable at each and every one. Did your love for this inspire you to go back and listen to Mother Love Bone's CD Apple? I've just discovered your body of work here at Eps so for all I know you've reviewed it... but to hear Wood in all his glory is a pretty incredible thing, and gives new insight to many of the lyrics on Temple.

How great!

I had this CD in my office just the other day (but, I took it back home). It was TotD that pulled me into grunge, as I subsequently bought Pearl Jam and Soundgarden CDs after enjoying the vocals on TotD.

Spot on review. You did 'em justice.

Great Review (Reply to this comment)

...of one of my favorite musical collaborations. This album was just amazing when it came out, and it still has staying power. It helps that I was totally infatuated with Chris Cornell & hoped that someday he would be my "Spoonman." Ahh, the grunge years...

Take Care,
Bijou

Good review... (Reply to this comment)

You know, I think that Matt Cameron, the drummer for Soundgarden, was also the drummer for Temple of the Dog.

And you're right about 'Reach Down', I think. I can't sit through that extensive 'jam session' part without getting an itchy 'next track' trigger finger.

Again, good job

Damn you're prolific....what's this, like your 17th review in the last week? ;-) Anyway, they're all good, and I look forward to each one. Keep it up!
