In some ways, I've found CTR to be even better than Mario Kart. Most notably in the single player mode. The fact that CTR offers so many bonuses to unlock through good gameplay means that you'll keep coming back, spending days or even weeks trying to unlock everything. Also, the later courses of CTR are truly challenging in single player mode, which is where Mario Kart drops the ball, in my opinion. Mario Kart was a great multiplayer game, but provided little challenge for a lone player, and thus little single player replay value. Even after playing through the game many times, I can still come back to CTR and expect to find a worthy challenge.
