The Bottom Line While the northern apes went about raping and pillaging, conquering and arguing, the Aboriginals said to themselves Nukineer!
We should be vacationing on Mars, playing checkers on Pluto, going for long distance vacations at resorts in the next galaxy, only three hours away.
But what have we got - stuck, that’s what - stuck on earth millions of years after creation. We think Australia or Rome, being the same distance from North America, are a long way away. We think the ocean is deep and the land is big. Blimey we are hopeless when you think about it - and it is all the fault of the weather.
That’s right – the weather!
Fair enough some scientific, academic individuals would have us believe life on earth started in Africa – Elephants balls! Well maybe I can’t be quite that emphatic but all the religions yarn on about everything coming out of a hole in the Middle East. The Middle East is really North Africa so I guess we can, as is handy when discussing religion, use a little flexibility. Just what year this was supposed to occur eludes me as I am unfettered by knowledge but one thing is for sure – I won’t let a fact destroy a good story. No, I am not a politician, lawyer or journalist.
Lets for argument sake say that “modern man” began a million years ago. Chuck in the Garden of Eden or whatever other yarn that makes you feel more comfortable. A million years ago the planet really only had two lumps of land, the Africa/Asia/Europe lump and the North/South America lump. At least that is what we are taught but again we have more elephant’s balls. What about the super island, Gondwanaland now better known as Australia. Yep, it was floating, lolling on the swell of the tectonic plates but being an island she sailed those plates pretty safely! Even today, albeit slightly sinking in the east and rising in the west its pretty much steady as she goes and even at the current rate Perth is unlikely to end up east of Sydney for quite some time. If that is hard to believe for heavens sake look at a map.
Now regular readers of my epistles of wisdom know that I wax lyrical about the virtues of the Aussie Aboriginals. It now seems they originated in North America and took off when the North American Indians came along. Now there is nothing wrong with the Indians and had they not been used as cannon fodder by those infamous British I wonder what the USA and Canada would be like today? I say that because both mobs were smarter than your average bear!
Now I am no expert on the North American Indians (is anybody) but I do know a bit about the Aboriginals. Basically it was a case that while the northern apes went about raping and pillaging, conquering and arguing, the Aboriginals said to themselves Nukineer (Now listen here), there must be a better way and with real estate even more plentiful in those days than now why fight over a lump of dirt? Absolutely bloody stupid!
So I ask myself how come the Aussie Aboriginals put in a concerted, and successful, effort to live in harmony at the same time as that northern mob went through the Roman era and the Middle Ages – to name but two misadventures?
The Aboriginals put an end to war, were very family oriented, were land managers, had a social justice system to rival today’s, and had a judicial system and laws much akin to the worlds best. Medically their cures have been closely matched with "ours" and are every bit as effective. I think the "natural" medicine industry is in for a huge shock. Incredible as our scientists are saying that it took till about 1940 for a Doctor here to find penicillin yet the Aboriginals have had it for at least 30,000 years - yet another one to them!
Marvellous how the Aboriginals are now highly respected generally and their advice is now sought on many things! This has only been in the last ten years when it was recognised that socially, justice, government, agriculture, "at one with the land" and medicine plus much more they have had in place at least 30,000 years ahead of we white apes. 50,000 years ago plus they knew the world was round!!!!
So what has the weather got to do with it? Obviously cold climates numb the brain and in so doing retarded the real growth of northern humanity. The warmer climes of Australia enabled the Australian Aboriginal to avoid all the malarkey that their northern neighbours had to persevere!
