| budp's Full Review: Hewlett Packard HP Pavilion 7950 (P5158A#ABA) PC D... |
The HP Pavilion 7950 appeared to be a great machine, but arrived with a defective floppy drive - the heads appeared to be out of standard alignment so the drive worked properly with disks formatted in it, but would not read disks written on other computers. After a very negative experience with HP customer support (which is not a toll-free number) I returned the machine to the point of sale and exchanged for a different brand computer. The machine came with a keyboard that included a number of added-function keys, and very small speakers that did not require an external power source. Good choice of software came installed; the 60GB hard drive was formatted as one partition. Setup was relatively easy. Access to the computer's insides was easy through the removal of a single side panel.
