Nice write-up!
And it is nice to see that "The Nearness of You" means something special to you, too.

This IS a lovely trip down memory lane. That is one of "my" special songs - I love the music and the lyrics, but I really love your rendition in this essay - I could clearly picture your folks, and you evoked all the emotions that must have accompanied your voyeurism of these magic moments as a child. Very well done - and PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU DO PULL IT OFF AND PUBLISH IT - or anything LIKE it. I'm buying!

This brought tears to my eyes (Reply to this comment)

My goodness. This is pure poetry. Perhaps its the amazing similarity to my parents that hit me so hard. I don't mean that in a bad way. At 57, I've lost both my parents so what I have left is the memories. They, too, loved to dance. They danced so beautifully together that it brought joy to all of us in the family. They liked a number of songs including Stardust, Begin the Beguine and Don't Be That Way. Your epinion is so beautiful that I think it should someday be turned into a write-off. What is better than pleasant memories from yesteryear? Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for being so encouraging. I do have a few beautiful memories of my childhood I have written for another website - this is one of them. As for publishing....maybe someday! I really appreciate your comments-

stunning stuff.. (Reply to this comment)

this snippet of such beautifullyt rendered thoguths IMHO should be expanded upon and you should pull it off epinions and try to get it legitmately published somewhere... there's too much stunning imagery, emotional effect and staggering writing in this little ditty to not deepen it and send it to a magazine. bravo.
