The Bottom Line Gay or straight, please do not picture the very sexy Mr. Stockholder nude at any point through out the reading of this entry.
Even though this is not a hot button issue in my life, I will give to you my humble point of view on this subject because it is all over the news. Most people that are extremely religious feel that marriage is strictly for a man and woman and God will eventually punish all of us for allowing two people of the same sex to get married. That is nonsense. If you are so rapped up in your religious believes that you need to interfere with peoples lives this deeply, you are wrong. This is not an issue that should be decided by the Bible. In my opinion, no issue should be decided by any one persons religious beliefs. And please, if I hear the words God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve coming from one more religious fanatics mouth, I will beat that person in the head with a 3-foot rubber wiener. Marriage is not what it was 50 years ago; you have kids like Brittany Spears getting married for fun and later in the week quickly getting the nuptials annulled. Then you have the 22 year-old models that are marrying 85 year-old-men with money and counting the minutes before they drop dead. Not to mention the fact that all marriages have over a 50-percent divorce rate. The only people that benefit from marriage these days are the divorce lawyers. So if two guys that love each other find a strong need to join this circus, I dont see a reason why they should be denied. I believe that they should be entitled to the same benefits as all the other idiots that disgraced the sanctity of marriage. If you want to put an end to this controversy once and for all, we should simply take away the joining of two peoples finances when they are married. Just simply make every new marriage complete with a prenuptial agreement. Todays marriage bond is much more about financial maturity than anything else, including love. Gay marriages will be no different. As for the people that are afraid of gays and just dont want to see public displays of two men kissing each other; I see their point to a certain extent. I do get a little scared and sick to my stomach when I see two men smooching, but I realize now, that it is my problem. After all, if two women were on the street showing affection to each other, I would be the first inline to enjoy the show. I would bend over backwards to get the best view possible of the woman on woman action. So that argument does not hold up. That is just a case of people not agreeing with certain rights provided because it does not fit into their preferences. There are many things that make me scared and make me ill, but I dont think there should be special restrictions made just for me. I get a little overwhelmed and scared when I see a midget, but I dont expect them to stay out of my way. Little people cant help the fact that I have a rare disorder that gives me the urge to kick their little bodies like a football and dream about them floating threw the crossbars on a football field. It is my job to control these fears, as it is the responsibly of the homophobes to control their fears. Also, I cant help but to stare when I see a humongous fat woman with an extremely skinny man, but I think they have the complete right to be with each other if they desire. This is just an example of individual preference. If some guy wants to be involved romantically with some woman who is two or three times the normal weight, why should I have the right to protest their love. I have a feeling that most of the men that are extremely against gay marriages feel that way due to the fact that they are not only afraid of the sight of a gay man, but they are also afraid of their own fantasies. Im sure if you were to hook all of these antigay rights activists to a lie detector, at least 90 percent of them will be proven to have homosexual fantasies and visions and desires of themselves taking it in the poop-shoot. I have read statistics that indicate that most men have had homosexual dreams at least once in their lives and it makes complete sense for insecure men to be petrified of these desires. What better way to control your fears than to make laws against them. There are many different ways that I feel about gays getting married, but in the end all of my feelings on the subject boil down to the same answer, its none of my business. I feel that people should be able to have the right to have a sexual relationship with whomever they see fit. I also feel that gay men and women should have equal opportunities to share health benefits and given the same tax benefits that help couples to prosper financially. Recently, my president George W. Bush made some sort of phony-bologna political statement addressing this topic and putting it in a collective list of important issues because the extreme religious are fueling this debate and are a good source of votes in the South, but in reality, he is just like the vast majority of straight men, he doesn't care what gay couples do behind closed doors, he wants everyone to be happy, financially secure, couldnt care less about the sanctity of marriage and he does not want his penis grabbed by a 250 pound weightlifting gay man. - stock |
