The Stealing-Your-Thunder Write-Off

The Bottom Line Go out there and steal somebody's thunder!
There are a lot of things I really love about Epinions. So many wonderful people write, read, and rate here, and it’s a great way to learn so much about so many things from them. Aside from the people, though I think there are two facets of Epinions that qualify as my very favorite aspects. Those would be:
1) Learning about a new product or service, being excited about it, and actually buying or using it. Avoiding a lemon based on someone else’s experiences.
2) Reading somebody else’s thoughts about a product or service I already use or have used, and comparing notes. Did I like it more than they did? Less? About the same?
These two points, I think, form an essential core of Epinions “Mission”, if you will. At least I think they do. We’re here to help others make informed buying decisions, after all, offering up our own experiences with everyday products, written by everyday people.
In that spirit, I would like to invite all members who would like to contribute to the Stealing-Your-Thunder Write-Off. Here’s how it works. Simply read and rate a review of any product in any category. Then write a review of your own on that product. The product can be something you’ve never tried before and purchased based on another’s review, or have already used but never reviewed.
To make this fun, you should:
1) Include a link to the review that inspired yours in your review.
2) Include a link to this page (and I’ll list you as a participant).
3) Please e-mail me with a link to your entry.
4) Compare notes to the review that inspired yours in the body of your text.
5) Important Entries should be based on new reviews to make this interesting, and should be posted within seven days of the publishing date of the inspiring review.
And we’re off! Go steal somebody’s thunder! Have fun! Most of all, though, this write-off should be a celebration of what Epinions is all about. It’s our mission, and should you choose to accept it, I look forward to reading your entry.
