by captaind | Feb 20 '04
I'm not a particular fan of musicals (getting to like them more as I grow old...er), but these ones are good...

Hm, I've never even seen half the movies on your list, but I've gotta agree with you on number 1. :)

We lost ours about 2 pm, but it came back about 6pm. I guess they just put the most important people's electricity back first! (Or maybe it's because Becca works for Aquilla - the company that run the electric maintainance round here?!?!?)

Ah, Katy babe, you'll always belong. Anyway, I'm sure you'll join us "Evil Hats" (as I dubbed them before I got any, and I guess it would be wrong to change all that now) next time round.

Thanks for your nice comment! ;-D

I come over here to leave a nice comment, and what do I get? A shitload of blue Advisor hats staring me in the face. Just scroll down the comments thread here and look for yourself. Damn scary thing. I suddenly feel as if I no longer *belong*.

*sniff*

Congrats on the hats, guys. (Shut up, Doc... I congratulated you a long time ago!) :oP

I will let you live for now, because if I crush you like the insect you are, you will cease to amuse me...

BTW - congrats on your new advisor hat! I was actually expecting you to get one - wasn't expecting one myself! (Or two, as it happens... hehe...)

Well well, it appears the tides have turned. Good job I do not fear any number of hats, so the war will rage on. 8)

Hey Doc!

I've got the emails for my three (count 'em - ooh I just love overusing that phrase!) new hats!! :-D Still haven't seen one by my name on my profile page or on any review yet, though :-( - Carl asked me if there was something I wasn't telling him or if it was an epinions bug!!

Er... I think I did see it, but so long ago I can't remember. (Damn it if I wasn't addicted to doing these top ten lists, this would be my last one!!)

Hey there!

I can't remember seeing "West Side Story" except on stage, which can't really count here. I have a feeling though that if I'd seen more Rogers & Hammerstein musicals the list may have been chock full of them!

Hehe... if only I'd been around the provide the lyrics, eh? What a film it would have been.

(NB - if anyone wants to contract my services for Grease 3 staring Charlotte Church and Justin Timberlake (or, conversely, someone with talent), just email me.

Hey, I'm sure I saw someone else do it... (actually that's what gave me the idea... er should I really admit that?!?)

Can't remember "Caberet" too well, apart from the song itself... but then again, Liza Minelli scares the pants off of me so it probably wouldn't make it... and you're right, I haven't seen "Band Wagon" - not yet, anyway...

This was a good list, but I would have included West Side Story. Still a great list, though.

No, not at your review here. I'm talking about the first time I saw Grease - the full length version in the theater for it's 20th anniversary. Boy, they cut a lot of stuff out for that movie to be tv-friendly!!! Too bad none of those songs involved driving their Honda to the ponda. That would add so much... lol

You're probably the first person who ever thought of "Some Like It Hot" as a musical (and then rated it below "The Sound of Music"!). I can only conclude you haven't seen "Band Wagon" but can't explain "Cabaret" being missing.

Re: Singing in the Rain only at 8?!?! (Reply to this comment)
by captaind
Hey Chris!

Hehe ... but if we always agreed, there'd be no point reading each others reviews! :-O That's my cunning plan... when you see my name on a new review, you'll think "okay, what's he gone and said now that I disagree with?"...

Wizard of Oz... hmmm... small irritating girl as main character... that puts me off quite a bit! Although I did manage to tolerate Annie...

Also in my defence I was indoctrinated at a young age with SoM - my family are all mad about Austria and we've been there several times , while Salzberg is my second favourite city in the world (I only like Paris more - slightly). Apparently I wouldn't go to sleep without the tape of The Sound of Music being played in the background when I was very young! I'm probably psychologically incapable of putting anything else at number one - so you see, it's really all my parents' fault...

Thanks for the comment and the (much hallowed) WOT! :-D

Singing in the Rain only at 8?!?! (Reply to this comment)
by cripper
I have to say I strongly disagree with a few of your choices here. Sound of Music is good but far from my best musical (which I might actually give to Singing in the Rain). I also love Wizard of Oz, even though that may be a bit too childish for some people.

But that's merely my opinion. Great review though.
