I'll be the first to admit, I'm cheap. Okay, that doesn't sound right...I'm thrifty. I always have been and always will be. There are very few things that I actually splurge on. One of those things are razors to shave my pieces and parts with. Years ago, I used to purchase the pack of 100 Bic Disposables, you know..the packages you buy and think you'll have razors to last the rest of your life, only to realize that you have to use a new razor every other day because they dull so fast?
Gradually, I spent more and more on my razors until I found myself with the Gillette Venus razor with replaceable head. My version of 'more and more' is a nickle here, dime there. I'm not talking twenty dollars or more here :) Thrifty, remember? I prefer using disposable razors, or shavers over electric because my legs seem to stay smoothe longer that way. My legs, and my underarms. I usually wear tank tops or camisoles, so 5 o'clock shadow is very unappealing.
I found I like the Gillette Venus razor the best, because the elastomer covered non-slip ergonomically shaped handle fits perfect in my hands. Regardless of whether I use soap or shaving cream, the handle doesn't get too slippery to hold on to. The handle isn't bulky or hard to hold on to in the least bit. There's a "finger rest" at the end of the handle, though I never 'rest my finger' on it. It's just sort of there.
The head of the Gillette Venus razor has three blades, surrounded on each side by soft protective "cushions". The head is rounded and tilts and maneuvers around the smallest, most delicate areas of your body. The razor has an Indicator Strip across the top that is enriched with aloe and vitamin E. The strip fades as it's *useability* comes to an end.
I very rarely get razor burn from the Gillette Venus razor. I love this razor, and don't mind paying the small extra amount to purchase them. The Gillette Venus Refill Cartridges are just that, specifically the heads to the razor. On the handle of the razor there's a small button that you push forward to release the old blade. To replace the blade, you simply open the package for the new blade and snap it into place. Very simple, very effective.
The Gillette Venus Refill Cartridges are expensive! There have been times that I've purchased a whole new Gillette Venus, just because I was annoyed at paying almost the same amount for either a new handle with three razor heads, or a separate package with four or eight refill cartridges. A package of 8 Gillette Venus Refill Cartridges costs around $17. HERE'S THE SECRET..a package of 4 Gillette Disposable razors costs around $6...and IF you pull the head off the disposable razor, you can snap it into the handle of your Gillette Venus shaver that uses the refill cartridges! No joke. So, in essence, if you buy two 4 pack packages of the disposables for $6 each, total cost $12, you'll have eight razor heads..the same as if you purchased the 8 pack for $17! They are the exact same heads...go figure!
