Pros: Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean, pool, workout room
Cons: what the hotel couldn't control, the idiots staying there.
The Bottom Line: The Extended Stay is a nice clean facility with friendly staff close to Interstate 25

| jdornoff's Full Review: Extended Stay Deluxe Denver |
Background:
The reason for this trip was that I had a meeting to attend that was going to be held in Downtown Denver. My last trip to Denver was 1983 and that was only an overnight stay so it is not a city I am very familiar with. In fact, if it was any other city in the west I would have probably been able to figure out where to stay but for Denver I was in the dark.
I did not want to rent a car because prices are high in Denver, so I was looking for someplace close to the transit system. One of the downfalls of booking with Hotwire is that you dont know the exact address of the place your book, but with some research you can get a good idea. In this case I knew that if I booked in the Tech Center South it should be close to the light rail line so I went ahead and booked a room on Hotwire and got the Extended Stay America Tech Center South for only $33.00 a night.
The Hotel:
Hotel Information:
Extended Stay Deluxe Denver - Tech Center South
9604 E. Easter Ave.
Englewood, CO 80112
Telephone: (303) 858-0292
Fax: (303) 858-0297
Well, it turned out the hotel was halfway between two light rail stations which were both about a mile from the hotel. However, there is shuttle van service to the hotel Monday-Friday so that would help. The only downfall was Saturday where I would have to walk with my luggage to the light rail station but I packed light to make it easier.
For those driving the hotel is nicely located on the corner of Easter Ave and Clinton halfway between the Arapahoe and Dry Creek exits of Interstate 25.
The hotel is very cookie cutter three stories slight L shape and no character whatsoever. There is an elevator so you dont have to walk stairs with the luggage. The hotel is a deluxe version because it does offer the queen beds and has a pool that standard Extended Stays do not offer.
The hotel does have a nice swimming pool, fitness center with six different types of machines, plus laundry facilities.
Check In:
I arrived at the front desk about 2:45pm. Official check in time was 3:00pm but I was hoping to be able to get into my room take a quick shower and get into my suit before leaving for my meeting in the downtown area.
The girl at the front counter said that she had not had a chance to check the rooms yet because they have been so full, but she would go up and check right now. I was hopping that she did not have to check ALL the rooms before she would check me in because I was to be picked up at 3:25pm by a transit van to take me over to the light rail station.
Well, I guess it was only my room she checked, because within a couple of minutes she was back down and checked me in, which only took about 2 minutes because I had prepaid for my room.
The Room:
I guess I was spoiled by our room in Anaheim, because this room was about the size of a standard motel room maybe slightly larger.
As you entered the room there was a closet to the right and the bathroom to the left. The vanity was inside the bathroom along with the toilet and full size tub. The closet was split in half with the side closest to the main room having two shelves and the side closest to the door having a single shelf. The ironing board and iron where hanging on the wall backing against the main part of the room.
Once past the closet/bathroom area you entered the main part of the room. To the left was the kitchen area. Backing the wall of the bathroom was a large sink, many cabinets, the microwave that was inside a cabinet above the sink, and finally a cabin 20-inch stove. On the counter there was a coffee maker and toaster.
The refrigerator was positioned opposite of the stove in an enclosure that separated it from the main part of the room. Next to the refrigerator was a large desk.
Past the desk there was a queen sized bed that separated two night stands, both having lamps on them plus one having a phone and the other having the digital clock. Past the closet on the right side you have another large desk with another phone on it, followed by a dresser with a 27 television on top of it which was a nice change from the 19 television we encountered in Anaheim. Just past the television was a leather chair and ottoman with a floor lamp next to it.
The television had about 50 channels including ESPN, ESPN 2, Food, HGTV, and others.
Noisy Neighbors:
The only real negative I encountered in my stay was the final night where there was several people staying at the hotel that were very noisy. Even though it was after 10:00pm at night these people where not considerate enough to close doors quietly, no they had to slam the doors and be very loud in the hallway.
The worst part for me was I had to get up early the next morning to begin my trip back to Salt Lake City.
Breakfast:
Even though it is an extended stay hotel with kitchens they do offer a small morning service in the small front lobby. They have bread to toast, coffee, milk, and pastries which is enough to provide a quick breakfast for those on the run.
Nearby:
There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel:
IHOP and Trail Bust Steakhouse are across the street, with Landrys Seafood House and Maggianos Little Italy within a short walking distance.
There was no convenience store within a close walking distance (15 minutes) but within a mile of the hotel are several fast food restaurants and a Target. There are two light rail stations about a miles distance from the hotel and there are transit vans that operate in the area Monday-Friday from 5:30AM to 8:00PM.
Check Out:
Because I had to be at the train station fairly early, and because there is not a transit van that runs on Saturdays, I left the hotel at 5:00am since I had a mile walk along with crossing Interstate 25 to get over to the light rail station and I had my luggage.
The person working the counter the night before told me to leave the key in the room. I called the hotel after 7:00AM when the front desk person arrives to ensure that they knew that I had left the key in the room since I had to leave so early. I was not going to take a chance on getting charged for another night because they did not know I left.
Overall:
Overall the motel was nice, however when planning another trip to Denver in September I was able to book a hotel that has direct access to the light rail line for the same price that I paid for this one ($34.00 a night).
However, I would recommend the Extended Stay Deluxe because it does offer good service, nice facilities, and is convenient to Denvers Tech Center and does have transit service Monday-Friday.
While I did get spoiled by the huge room we had in Anaheim this room had two desks, a nice leather chair, and a queen sized bed. The television was a 27 model which was a big improvement over the 19 model we had in Anaheim. The biggest downfall was how noisy some people where the last night I was there.
Once again I get to thank Di better know as SurgRN911 for quickly adding this facility to the database.
