When I got Mario Advanced I was excited. It was new Mario masterpiece and I could wait to go through the levels. I turned the game on and as to my surprise I saw two different Mario games. I thought I hit the jackpot, but I knew that their was something a little bit fishy. Next I picked the game that I wanted play. It then took me to an intro screen that I remembered from somewhere. Then it hit me. This was the very same intro screen that there was for Super Mario 2 for Super Nintendo. I started playing the game and got a huge disappointment. It was the same game as Super Mario 2!!!
The other Mario game that this cartridge comes with is a typical regular game that is very normal. It is exactly like a Super NES Mario game.
Even though this game is a remake it does have extremely good graphics for a handheld game. You can see Toad, Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool all come alive with color and great animation. All of the backgrounds and enemies are alive with color as well. This is the first Mario game that has doors to enter and explore. I give the graphics on this game a 10/10 rating for a handheld game.
Game play is also a great thing in this game. I really like how you can pick up and throw enemies and bash them against each other. I also like how the game lets you fight bosses and pull items out of the ground instead of hitting question boxes with their heads.
I really like this game because you can choose what character you want to be and each character has a special ability. For example Princess can float in the air for a few seconds and Toad is really fast. All the characters look great (Toad is actually smiling), but the enemies look greater.
Their are a whole lot of different enemies and bosses in this game most enemies can be picked up and thrown. Some of these enemies you can ever ride around on. One type of enemy that you wont see in this game is those annoying turtles. You can still get turtle shells that may be buried in the ground though. I don't want to reveal everything that goes on during Super Mario Advanced, so I will keep this review short. Overall this is an great game if you haven't played the classic Mario games before.
Make sure to check out my review on Gameboy Advanced to learn more about the system.
