| Donnie013's Full Review: Arm & Hammer Fridge Fresh |
I love to cook - well, for company anyway. For just Rich and myself, its usually something quick and easy. Yet there are more times than not, when I over do it - as far as the proportions, I mean.
There might be a bit left over - maybe just enough for lunch the next day. And yet, Ive lost count how many times those leftovers get pushed to the back of the fridge. You remember that old saying: out of sight, out of mind. How true!
But, there is one thing that will quickly bring them to my attention. The smell!
Sure, I dont notice it when the fridge door is closed but when you open it, WOW! I never remembered buying and placing Limburger cheese in there! Whew!
Yes, it got me in the habit of checking the foods more regularly but still, now and then, you get the slight drifting odor on onions or fish or maybe something just beginning to go bad.
Through the years, Id gotten in the habit placing a small jigger of baking soda on one of the racks on the inside of the fridge door. All too often, Id forget it was there and knock it over by using the rack for things it was meant to hold.
Yes, I tried the box, too. With the same results.
Lets also talk about the freezer. While its true that we wrap things very protectively to freeze, we sure dont wrap our water that makes our ice cubes. Doesnt matter if youre using the ice cube trays or have an automatic ice cube maker. Odors can filtrate into the water and make the cubes taste a bit weird. Not good if youre having company and need to place your cubes in a fancy ice bucket. Try removing the lid and get a whiff of that smell! Not good!
There had to be a better way.
Arm & Hammer made it better and easier. They came out with the Fridge Fresh. What a great idea!
First of all, Im sure we all that baking soda helps prevent odors. Doesnt exactly eliminate them but it does help prevent them. So why not use something we know works, right?
Secondly, if youre like me, youre tired of cleaning the mess you make every time you knock over the small glass or box youve placed in your fridge or freezer when trying to prevent odors. Why not using something we know works, right?
What Arm & Hammer did was take a small round four-inch (in diameter) disk and put our beloved baking soda inside. The company has placed on the front of this disk, a (patented) air flow grid that enables better circulation to fight odors. Dont worry about the baking soda falling out. It wont. The area where the baking soda is located is sealed just enough to allow it to fight odors without it falling out and all over your fridge or freezer.
Its really easy to install - or rather, position. Just firmly press the disk onto the inside wall of the door to create the suction needed to hold it. You might need to gently moisten the suction cup first like I did. And dont forget to activate the indicator first.
I will agree that there are many people who will immediately, upon taking this disk from its box, who will slap it on the inside of the fridge or freezer door and hope for the best.
Keep in mind, it is best to follow the directions on the box that indicate you need to rub the indicator in order to activate it.
I found this great gadget at Wal*Mart for $1.89 and while that might seem a bit stiff since a box of baking soda at Wal*Mart goes for fifty cents, keep in mind how often you might knock over the box. Id rather pay the $1.89 and know I can keep my fridge and freezer odor free and clean!
I think youre really going to like this little disk.
Remember, Arm & Hammer Fridge Fresh really works.
