Febreze odor-eliminating candles: A nice and pleasing scented candle.

Written: Jun 25 '07
Pros:Easy to use, long lasting, pleasing scent, scent is not overpowering.
Cons:Not for people that like strong scented products.
The Bottom Line: A great product when odor is an issue.

This is very much like an ordinary scented candle with a distinct difference. It has an odor-eliminating core that is surrounded by a scented wax. The core is about the size of a normal 1-inch candle that you would use in a common candle holder, whereas the total candle is over three inches in diameter.

Setup
Nothing to set up, just remove from packaging and light it like a normal candle.

My impression of the scent I received
I received apple spice & delight. While I could not detect the scent of delight, the apple was pleasing although very subtle. It is not anywhere near as strong as the apple spice tea, and I am glad it isn’t. Overall I am pleased with the scent.

Does it work?
There are two aspects of this product, the scent creation and the odor-eliminating feature. The scent is not overly strong but rather pleasing. I think they got this aspect of the product down. The odor-eliminating feature I am still not sure of. Yes it makes the room smell better without overly masking the room with a strong scent but the smells of the room do come back fairly quickly. So it’s not a solution to a smelly room, you still need to find the source of the smell and clean/disinfect/remove/annihilate/burn/dismember the source.
I first used it in my son’s room but removed it right before bedtime. Without soliciting a response from my son, he said he wanted the candle back in his room because he liked the smell. Obviously I’m not leaving a burning candle in a sleeping boy’s room but according to him it did work.

The container
The wax is in a small glass container the will hold around 10 ounces. While the glass container is not lavish, it is not cheap. This is the thing I like about the febreze products I have received is the containers are made out of strong glass, not flimsy plastic. I could easily see some people using this as a drinking glass when they are done, although I don’t recommend it.

Life expectancy.
I let it burn the first time for 8 hours and only a fraction of the wax was burned. If you don’t know, cheap candles burn up fairly quickly whereas more expensive burn up slower. From my experience this is a nicer wax. From measuring the amount burned and measuring the remaining wax, I am estimating that the candle will last 35-40 hours. The material I received with the package claimed the candle would last for 30 hours.
