Vanguard Angels
To the vanguard angels, too important
to sing me their chorus.
To the sailors I have known who I will see no more
due to the will of another.
To the friends I love and shall never speak with
because our time has passed.
To my lost loves back home, where ever that is,
I love you still, though you think of me no longer.
To the drink that gets me through the days
too long to forget and hours to painful to remember.
To the opportunities lost due to sloth and indecision,
where would I be now with motivation?
To the gods unavailable and unresponsive,
I ask myself what difference do they make?
To the lost youth with too many choices
and no idea where to begin, our oppression begins here.
To the inhuman government who cares naught for anyone,
but blows window dressing kisses to us all.
To the idea love will solve all problems,
when it adds more to the list.
To the artists unknown, unappreciated and unhappy,
you speak the truth; you speak to yourself.
To myself the ever confused, ever pessimistic loner
who seeks companions and something more.
