When I first encountered my hosting relationship with Spirit Offshore Hosting, I was quite skeptical of their genuineness. This is because the prior experiences I had with my previous web host was not good at all, and the one before that was a nightmare situation. Naturally I thought that they were all a "den of thieves and liars". I must admit that I treated my new web host rather rudely at first. This is what compelled me to write this article, to not only try to make up a little to them, but to also let others know that all web hosts aren't the same.
When my first request for information was made, I didn't expect to hear back from them for a day or so. But in about 15 minutes, before I even logged off the Internet, they had responded to my brief questions about their service. I had wanted to set up two domain names on my account to put two separate web sites on one account, but was nicely told that they don't accommodate that. My first reaction was to find a different web host who did, but something told me it wasn't worth it. At least they didn't try to make the sale by making promises they couldn't keep, which is precisely what my previous web host did. So it continued.
I sent more questions over the next couple of days and each time they answered promptly, and I was then assigned a personal contact representative who I always had direct contact with. This helped me realize that this person was always held accountable to what they had said. My prior web hosting experience was that they would pass off lies I had been told onto someone else.
So, still reluctant, I paid my money to set up an account. I was assisted in finding the right account to accommodate my needs, and they didn't try to oversell me on services I didn't need. I was told I could upgrade my account at any time during my hosting contract, as they have a variety of hosting packages that, I might add, are very competitive in price with other offshore hosting companies. During the set up, my contact person was always available to answer my questions and even moved my domain name for me when I was having problems with this. Now my confidence was beginning to restore, as the contact response time and help seemed consistent. Wow, could this be for real?
Once my website was in place, I decided to do some fancy upgrading to the programming. They helped me by installing on their end some additions to the PHP which I had read that I needed to accomplish the task. I now have the website I set out to have, and am very happy hosting here.
I am in a leadership role in my company, and also perform customer service to my own customers. I have to say that I really learned something from the philosophy of Spirit Offshore Hosting that I now use for our own customer service and in employee relations, too. It's called integrity in relating to others, and I believe I've grown from this unlikely source of a simple web hosting experience.
