What an excellent list!
We've exchanged views before about mutual passion for "While You Were Sleeping"...a great choice.
"Gone With the Wind" ... a foregone conclusion
"Sophie's Choice" and "Murder in the First" -- both incredible and little known masterpieces. I have two moments in Sophie's Choice that immediately spring to mind when I think of scenes that moved me.
"Shawshank"...my #1 film of all time!
I would have had to include "Glory" (hello again, Morgan Freeman) and flamepillar's "Rear Window" (my personal favorite oldie)and then
some newer larger than life films - "Crouching Tiger" and "Return of the King"...and then
my classics choice, "Henry V" by Kenneth Branagh.
So, thanks to you, I guess I was able to get my own top 10. I love your style.

You have quite the taste for the wrong side of the law, eh, Nedi? I thought the loving-mother/kindly-writer pose was too good to be true. Then again, i also thought Millinocket could be counted on to brag that her Netflix queue is still larger than mine, and it is, but Murder in the First should boost mine to 187, and that ain't shabby. Lovely essay!

haven't gotten around to seeing "Murder in the First" - which has been slowly working its way up the Netflix queue since your recommendation. Now that it's on your top ten, I definitely need to move it to the top of the list!
Good choices - "Shawshank" is one of my favorites as well.

Sheila!! Hey girl! Glad you liked my choices. Gotta tell ya, I really flip-flopped a lot before I finished this thing. There are so many wonderful movies, and so many different reasons for liking each one of them. Naming just 10 is a challenge. Thanks, Hon!! Always a pleasure to see your name!

Some nice choices here Nedi, I would probably include The Wizard Of Oz and Gone With The Wind on my list too and maybe Dr. Zhivago. I like the way you included both older and newer films. I think it give a Top 10 List more credibility. Nice job. Sheila

Consider it done, Kiddo!! You've got some great choices on yours. Hey, you know this was a lot harder to do that I thought it would be. I've been working on it for over a week in bits and pieces. Of course, if I had more than an hour a day or so to write, it would make a difference. Lordy, I've had my hands full lately.

Ahh, some excellent choices if I do say so myself! I have heard much about "The Big Easy" and "Sophie's Choice", while "Gone With The Wind" and "Somewhere In Time" were definitely shoo-ins for a Nedipooh list. Guess I need to get on the stick though -- I think I've only seen half of these. I loved "The BUtterfly Effect" so much that if I weren't so lazy I might have eased it into my list... but mine is lacking enough as it is in the older films -- "Rear Window" is one that I might add if the time allows. Tell you what, if you link to my Top Ten list, I'll link to yours!
