My All Too Brief Time at the LA Meet & Greet
Mar 21 '04
The Bottom Line Ummm, take a different route next time to get there on time?
The Los Angeles "Meet & Greet" this last Saturday (March 13) was terrific.....so I'm told.
The Epinions Meet & Greet was scheduled from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. I had a prior commitment which I could not change, but figured that showing up late was preferable to not going at all. I had to drive approximately 125 miles one way. Unfortunately, I did not arrive until 4:30 pm.
Dave and Busters is a very large establishment complete with doormen. I was told, once inside, to follow the "yellow brick road" which wound through the huge, noisy place towards the back where the Epinions Meet & Greet had been.
Dave and Busters impressed me as a loud, exciting place that would be fun to take the family and kids to. There is a ton to do here, including all types of video games. I had actually never heard of it, but apparently it is a chain of restaurants in the Los Angeles area. (However, it not NOT a Chuck E. Cheese clone.)
I learned that there were approximately 30 people total attending. I can speak for the last people in the group remaining that day including Alexis, Paul, Sarah, Christal, and Garrett (roheblius), his wife, Carol and their two adorable little sons. They were all very kind and cordial and assured me that they had all had a great time. I was extremely late for the party, but did my best to get there. They were also sympathetic to my frazzled appearance and demeanor from the long drive on the 405 southbound for the last three hours! (Better luck next time!)
Although they were basically wrapping things up, they all took some minutes to talk to me and I even got to have my picture taken with Garrett (we held up a large Epinions beach towel) and I received cute 4 Epinions dolls! I stayed a total of about 15 or 20 minutes.
Maybe I'll have a better chance of making the Midwest Meet & Greet!
