Hope you get to the next one in good time. They sound like fun, don't they? Maybe I'll get to one, too!

I'm in for the LA effort, too. But we need lots of lead time as my calendar is locked-in like hell, and I'm sure others' are as well.

I am so sorry I missed you, Gael. You have been so supportive of my reviews and I would have loved to meet you. If I hadn't come down with such an awful headache toward the end of the party, I might have been there when you arrived and we could have hung out a bit.
I have to admire your perseverance, though. I hope you'll make it to another M&G.

I hung around (Reply to this comment)
by Penguinlady
I stayed as late as I could but had to get home to my waiting dinner guests. I think I missed you by about 15 minutes.
I suggest that we organize a picnic somewhere in the LA area, as opposed to halfway to San Diego. There are lots of nice picnicky places around, including my lawn! And we'll provide plenty of notice, too.
I'm sooo sorry to have missed you!

I could much more easily make it to Hollywood, rather than all the way down in Orange County. A Friday night meeting sounds like fun! I'll get out Mapquest and find that place, keep me posted, ok?
I think having more notice would have also helped. I think we were given about a week and a half's notice regarding the Meet & Greet. (I had already committed to attend a wedding, which I couldn't change, of course....("Oh, do you mind changing your wedding plans so I can go to the Epinions Meet & Greet? Thanks so much, very nice of you.")
P.S. I enjoyed seeing the cool photos anyway! :)

A GPS in my old car would be good! That way people could find me when I break down somewhere! Really should consider it. Thanks...

Thanks - I actually had thought about some of us trying to organize a "Meet & Greet" of our own. I have never met any other Epinionators (other than my son) and would love to do so! I'm willing to come to LA again, but will definitely be taking the route that Penguinlady suggested, and avoid the damn 405. In hindsight, I actually thought I should have had a cell number to call someone. I did call the restaurant, but they didn't know what I was talking about! Jeez!
Thanks!

Ouch! (Reply to this comment)
by 29th_Candidate
You poor thing! If you had called to say you were on your way (or perhaps you did), I would've done what I could to "rally the troops" to wait for you. We didn't leave, so much as get "herded out." I thought that was a bit strange, considering it was a public bar, thus, even though the room eeps rented would become publicly accessible again, it wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) mean we were expected to exit.
Hopefully we'll cross paths at the next one (which we may organize ourselves, so we don't have to accommodate a location; one that's conveniently close to Disneyland. Instead, we can choose a location that accommodates us; one that's conveniently close to 90% of the meet attendees.)
Best Regards,

That's too bad. Traffic sucks. I'm hoping they'll have another North East meet-and-greet soon. I should have gone to the New York one.

... but was unable to make it because of the lack of advance notice. I had out-of-town biz travel commitments I had made weeks prior.
I hope the next time there's a SoCal gathering we'll have some more lead time so I can schedule it in. If it ain't on the calendar, it don't exist, unfortunately.
cheers,

I guess after writing here for four years, I really wanted to meet some of the people whose writing I had read so often! Yes, I did have a wedding at 1 pm, so it was a conflict, or else I certainly would have started out a lot earlier.
Nope, don't really know anything about a Midwest Meet & Greet...not trying to start rumors...maybe just planting the idea?? Ha!
Thanks again!

Make it a great day.......kath

My goodness that is a long drive! (Reply to this comment)
by bonniesayers
I had read in comments on other postings of the greet that you were late so was not sure what happened.
I voted for a Los Angeles location, not one an hour away. Too bad they did not opt for Universal Studios area or Burbank even.
Glad you got a beach towel.

What a darn shame! I cannot believe that you drove that long and far to get there, only 30 minutes late! Did you have a wedding to do? Had I been in attendance, I would have waited for you!
Did you at least see the pictures? You can find them here:

So sorry!
