Probably another 10...maybe I'll do another list. I read about the NYC M&G and it sounded fun, too!

....I'm glad I did. Sounds like you could probably add even more reasons to go.
Our NY M&G was a good time for all of us.
It was good to read this Top Ten List!

Let's Meet In The Middle!!! (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
I know I've kidded around about our meeting at a greasy spoon diner we have here in Anderson called the 29th Street Cafe--but I'm going to start getting serious and scouting around to find places that might be suitable for a future M&G in the way of having something for everybody and being large enough to contain us all!
Will let the brass know when I have a list of several such places!
Cheers!

Hi Bonnie:
Thanks for the invite, but this weekend coincicides with Cameron (my son's) spring break, and we are leaving for a short vacation to San Diego (Legoland and Sea World---reviews to follow!).
Have a great time at the walk. Please let me know when you will be organizing the next one.

The wife (Reply to this comment)
by roheblius
Garretts wife and two boys had traveled with him to the party. The boys looked a little young for most of the video games, so she did a great job keeping them smiling through what must have been mind numbing boredom for the kids. Kudos to her!
You would think they were too young, but the reason they were there and not in the arcade was because they already went through a good 60 bucks on those games.
The wife was definitely a trooper. Nice job.

Petra, let's do our own! Howzabout something ethnic, like sushi?
eeeww... not sushi! But there's always something going on in Pasadena. Just got to find some day off for it... ugh.

We are going to be at Dodger Stadium on Sat April 17th mid morning to early afternoon for the Cure Autism Now (CAN) walk a thon and resource fair. Skipping the walk and kids will be bouncing in those big things they have set up.
Chaka Khan will be performing live, free admittance and free parking. Maybe we will see ya there, email me if going.

Yikes, comment overload! (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for your comments. Bonnie, I agree that it was a long way to go. Hollywood, Pasadena or even downtown would work for me next time. Although, Í'm not sure if anyone would be interested in doing an "unofficial" get together---maybe to coincide with the opening weekend of a big movie or something?
Yeah, Tom, I haven't heard back from her, either. My wife keeps asking why I'm kicking myself, and I tell her it's because I put $50 each on Stanford, St. Joe's, Xavier's, and Kansas to reach the final four. S'pose she'll ever email me for that lunch invite?
Petra, let's do our own! Howzabout something ethnic, like sushi?
Adrienne, I have that book on my to read list. Please tell your friend to expect a review around May/June timeframe.
29th Candidate, I think we must have been in different parts of the pool table room. I spent 10 minutes graxing at the buffet table, 10 minute mingling around Garrett, 30 minutes sitting on the table in between Adriennefoster and philipchu, then another 10 minutes or so wandering around...really would have liked to have said hello---let's do lunch!
Thanks again for the comments. The do was clearly fun for everyone!

...the brainy and friendly adriennefoster, who works in the publishing business. She told me that she hesitated to write book reviews because she knew so many of the authors.
Brainy? I supposed there are worse things to be....
I would like to clarify a couple of points. I generally don't review spec-fi books because I'm acquainted with quite a few authors in the genre and it's my personal policy not review the work of people I know. Before anyone gets too excited, I work in technical publications. I don't know what criteria Epinions used to designate me a TR, but the books I gave out at the M&G were more to help out my author friends, who have yet to achieve the status of Stephen King or J.K. Rowling. Since I won't review their work, I thought I could find someone else who would. Epinions never pressured or expected me to bring them along, but Christal did think it was a good idea.
Other than that, a great perspective on the M&G. I hope even more Epinionators will attend the next one.

Darn, you were so quiet and hidden yourself, we keep forgetting you on the lists!!!
But hey, you definitely have a point about Paul ... he was almost not there. Half a step ahead of Nirav, but still ... a drink may have helped the shy child. :)
And Bonnie ... they OWE us another meeting in downtown L.A. I'd say we riot!

Hey there again Dean...
Simply surprised that one might be unaware of that particular user.
And no, you would probably have no reason to know she was there.
As I said, I would have been disappointed if I had missed meeting
her . . .perhaps that's just me....

Hey there Dean (Reply to this comment)

This jaunt was too far for me to attend and find childcare at such short notice. I voted for Los Angeles hoping downtown, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Burbank or Universal Studios - but Orange?
Glad to read another write up on this event. Maybe next time will be closer and get more attendees.

Thanks for the comment, Tom. I try not to take these "getting to know you" parties too seriously. The whole point is to have a good time, and Shopping.com did really try.
I was supposed to know about badkittyM and that she was in LA? I sure wish someone had told me beforehand.
badkittyM, if you read this, email me and let me take you out to lunch!

you said...
"But Paul looked like he could have used a stiff drink."
A definite 'lol' moment for this reader...
you said later...
"Who was badkittyM, and why didnt I get to meet her?"
So how does it feel to know you blew the main purpose of the 'm-n-g'...??
(OK, maybe it would have been my main purpose had I been there...)
Very nicely done 'wrap-up' of the event.
