I recently booked a flight between San Jose, CA and
Portland, ME. My return trip was as follows:
Departed Portland, ME Tue, Jun 26 04:10 PM
Arriving 05:25 PM New York-Kennedy, NY (JFK)
JetBlue Flight 605
Departed New York-Kennedy Tue, Jun 26 06:00 PM
Arriving 09:39 PM San Jose, CA (SJC)
As you can see, the connection time is only 35
minutes!! Due to a late departure, I was unable to
make my CONNECTION to San Jose.
It is also important to note that even if this flight
had arrived on time, I would have probably not been
able to make this connection (taxi time, time to exit
plane, time to walk to next gate).
Upon arrival at JFK, I consulted with the JetBlue
service counter. They indicated that my return fare
was considered an "illegal" and "unauthorized"
booking, because of the short connection time.
JetBlue stated they would have never authorized this
itinerary due to the short connection time. They
indicated that this return fare was not booked as a
CONNECTION, and in fact, was booked (by Travelocity)
as two seperate tickets/bookings. JetBlue indicated
that becuase of this illegal booking, they were not
obliged to assist me with my travel to San Jose.
Instead, JetBlue extended me the courtesy of flying
stand-by to San Francisco on a much later flight and
that I would be responsible for my transportation from
San Francisco to San Jose.
This "illegal" / "unauthorized" booking is of concern
to me and is the main reasoning for my complaint. Please be aware of this practice.
