I'm glad I did not read these reviews before I got my Cricket phone here in Tulsa, OK. I love it!!! It is everything it promises and more!!! All local calls are unlimited and included in the basic price! All incoming calls unlimited and free! Available caller ID, Call waiting, and Voice mail.
And as far as the long distance - I went to Sam's Club and purchased an AT&T 1000 minute long distance card for $41.60 (I'll do the math for ya, that $0.416 a minute)!!!
The Nokia phone was $100 with a $50 rebate. It has a special feature which easily allows me to use the Long distance card (just key in the number and then press the menu button twice).
Here is the real amazing part. I had a SW Bell wired phone at my house and the Cricket phone - with all the same features (Caller ID, Call waiting, and voice mail, and Long distance) was less expensive then the SW Bell service. I called SW Bell and told them to get thier crappy phone service out of my house! Even with all the added services and replacement insurance, the Cricket service is LESS then my wired was - with long distance factored in, my Bills run about $ 55 to $ 60 a month.
Now after 5 months of Cricket I can only say, that my monthly phone bills are now MUCH less then with my old SW Bell wired line. I have never had a problem with my phone, and except for one bad area, I never lose cell service. I have had a few different cell services before (Voice Stream, AT&T, and Cellular ONE) and none of them were as good as Cricket.
I totally recommend it... Sorry those others who wrote opinions had problems but I would NEVER go back to either SW Bell wired service, or any other Cell service.
The only down side is that you can not roam. And that is a big problem is you travel. but for me, being 99% in the Tulsa area. This is like having a great rate on my wired phone and then being able to bring that phone with me!!!
