| jbz1's Full Review: Rival 5 qt. Removable Crock-Pot Slow Cooker |
Ok, so your mom had one of these and it lasted 35 years, right? Wrong! She probably didn't have the removable stoneware -- which is a great invention!
In this day and age of the microwave, I'm here to tell you -- I use this thing all the time. At this time of year, football tailgaiting comes to mind. Here is the one NEGATIVE -- the lid slides on & off very easily -- so you've got to be very careful if you are going to travel with this appliance already loaded (don't ruin your vehicle interior)
My absolute favorite recipe is so simple -- buy pre-formed meatballs found in the grocers' freezer. Add enough THAWED meatballs to fill about half the crockpot. Then add 2 jars of Heinz (12 oz)chilli sauce (found near the ketchup at most grocers), and add 32 oz of grape jelly. Turn the crock pot on in the morning, stir twice during the day, and enjoy these scrumptious delicacies in the afternoon or evening. [For an interesting contrast, try substituting raspberry jelly]
When you are finished, clean up is simple:
Pull the stoneware out & do with it what you will -- I wash mine in the dishwasher bottom rack. Caution:Unplug your crock-pot after using, and NEVER submerge the base (heating unit) in water.
Bottom line -- this is the ANTI-MICROWAVE cooking device, and it won't affect your dad's pacemaker!
