Re: THE BITTER COMES OUT BETTER WITH A STOLEN GUITAR! (Reply to this comment)

Wigan,
Then how do you explain the rather lackluster review?
Well, I do love David Bowie, but I don't like a lot of his songs, so I guess that explains it.
You should be grovelling in eternal gratitude!
You're right. I should be. But I want to see Pulp for free ... in the mid-'90s! I got a copy of their Anthology DVD with all their videos. I might never leave the house again.
One thing I couldn't maintain during my own review was any semblance of objectivity, I know.
I definitely had that problem with my Muse review. It's so hard to express joy and how good things are through writing. It's much easier to criticize.
But what i wouldn't have given for "Sound and Vision!"
Sorry! Maybe next time. Or maybe there'll be a DVD...

Just kidding. One thing I couldn't maintain during my own review was any semblance of objectivity, I know. But I can't help it. Watching Bowie for me is like being transported to musical mecca. But what i wouldn't have given for "Sound and Vision!" Great review!

...i see you got to watch a lot of the concert after all! ;)
a little error with the date at the top of your review - unless by some miraculous event you were able to travel forward in time by a month, and bowie just happened to be playing at the same venue. okay, im being annoying now...
you find him hot, and he's older than your dad? how sick is that?!!
cheers

Bowie just did a concert this past Monday and I couldn't get tickets. You're so lucky you got to go! And he is sexy even though he's pushing 60. Nice write-up!

Hi Mike,
I didn't think that the songs were bad. It's just that hearing them in the Fleet Center was certainly not the best listening venue. Maybe I'll have to buy those albums. If I was familiar with more of the songs, I certainly would have liked the show better. I think Bowie and his concert planners should have been able to predict that the audience wouldn't react very well to new material.
I'm sorry you're jealous! Maybe you can get tickets to see him later in the tour. Even if it's sold out, I'm sure you could get tickets from Craigslist or eBay or a broker.
Cheers,
Becky

Somehow, now I feel a little bit better about missing the sale-date for Bowie tickets by a day. Not much, but a little.
Although, I rather like an awful lot of the Heathen/Reality tunes, particularly the ones you mentioned, so maybe I'd enjoy his show a little more than you seem to have indicated you did.
Well, crap, I'm depressed again.
Great review, though!
