The Bottom Line Would you still buy--or even RENT--the cow when the milk is ALREADY free right HERE? HOPE SO!!!
It's obvious that you're reading me now, because you're here. But you're reading me for free right now--so I'm wondering how many of you would actually PAY to read me. I have a feeling that you're not going to be suckered into answering "Yes" or "No" until you know more of the facts. For instance. . .how much am I charging? If I'm charging a penny per piece, I suppose that I could probably keep at least some of you still interested. However, if I were charging you a million dollars per paragraph, you'd probably be asking me: "Are you nuts or something!?!" or Do you think I'm nuts or something!?!" What if I told you that I was throwing in a little (or a lot of) color here and there, some fancy fonts, some pictures, and other bells and whistles? At the steep price I quoted last, you still probably wouldn't want to take me up on it. But how about a considerably-lower price? As in. . . Would you pay $5.95 per month to read me in a somewhat fancier format? Or would you be interested in being able to read me for $29.95 for six months--which would be the same as saving 16% and getting one month free? Or would you like to read me for $49.95 per year--which would be the same as saving 30% and getting three months free? Now, what if I were being asked the same question in regards to the writings of a certain someone who has something in common with the saving 16% and getting one month free price? At one time, one of those three last mentioned price options would have, likely, been agreeable to me, because I was madly-in-love/temporarily insane. At this time. . .who knows?. . .Okay! I confess! I would probably still bite for sentimental reasons or something fluffy like that! (at least, for a month, anyway). But I know I'm in an entirely different league--after all, I've never had one of my comment sections contain over 1000 comments or anything like that. (sigh) Therefore, I will sweeten the pot some more by asking you if you would pay that kind of money to read me, , , IF As in IF the price also included the following perks and then some: The opportunity to read lots of other writers on a nearly-limitless variety of subjects--and, yes, you can comment, too (and in many colors, fonts, and font-sizes, no less!!!)!!! The opportunity to (if you wanted to take a further step beyond reading/commenting to doing some of your own writing--Did I say "some" of your own writing? That doesn't--as you'll learn in a bit--even BEGIN to describe the experience!!! The opportunity to actually get paid for expressing yourself--on average, we're not talking about enough to pay your rent (at least, not in a month's time), but we're talking about those little bits here and there that will add up, just as tossing loose change into a jar or piggy bank will. But it will give you a sense of pride, I'm sure. Then, there are even those more "instant gratification" opportunities for bigger bucks--I'm talking about (and I can vouch that it has happened to me!) where you get paid a whole $10 when someone you've referred is still subscribed three months later. Speaking of which. . . If you have decided now--or get convinced by reading further--to subscribe to Blogit (formerly known as BloggingNetwork.com or BN), I would really appreciate it if you would use the following URL: http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Affil/?20873/Blog.aspx/GriddleCakesUp/ This will not only make you referred by me in case you subscribe (which you're required to do in order to even read more than a small introduction to pieces) but it will also take you to my blog called Hot Off The Griddle!!! This is the blog that will give news on what's new with my other blogs (as of this time and place--3/19/04, midmorning--I have 20 of them counting this one and am going to be adding another one soon). My March 18 entry actually lists and describes these other 19 blogs. If you don't get to Hot Off The Griddle!!! before I add a new blog, you can always go back and read it. For one thing, I plan on putting a link back to it on every other entry I make in this blog for awhile. For another thing, you can simply find it easily on the hot-link calendar on the right-hand side of each page. If you'd rather be able to look at more of the site first, you could still be referred by me but take this link to the home page: http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Affil/?20873 I won't give you a whole lot more information at this time, as the site is quite easy-to-navigate, has all kinds of places where you can get information, and you'll find an abundant amount of friendliness and helpfulness both among subscribers and staff. At a later time--perhaps, to celebrate something such as my first year at Blogit (Since I joined on September 20 of last year, this could be a celebration-of-first-six-months writing!) or my first $100 earned--I plan on writing a continuing story. Or I might do this in June to celebrate my first nine months, as well, Hopefully, Epinions.com will come to see this as something to be reviewed--after all, they already advertise it, as you'll be able to see by going here: http://www.epinions.com/search/?submitted_form=searchbar&search_string=Blogging+Network&no_results_vertical=all&no_results_vertical_name= and scrolling down to the bottom. You can also simply do the search yourself to get to the same place by putting Blogging Network into a search window under all categories--Brisbane really needs to be brought up-to-date re: the recent name-change to Blogit, which isn't reflected over here yet. Anyway, I'll do an update review (that will include a link to this one) at the time that it gets a reviewing spot here--even if it's only a week from now! No matter what, I plan to give a report about every three months to update you on what's happening over at Blogit and if I'm still the happy camper that I am now! SIDEBAR: I'm happy to report that, thanks to my being seen at Blogit it's pretty well been established that at least one of my poems will be included in an anthology that will, most likely, be available at such places as Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com! When I know more about this, I'll let you know. As I've done here, I've also met several other readers and writers who share common goals (e.g. involvement with the Terri Schindler-Schiavo case) as well as learning from people with different points-of-view. It's easy--using Blogit's site search engine to simply type in words/phrases to find writings that interest you--or else you can click on the many category links to the left side of the home page. It's also easy to find out if you've received comments, because they're all located in one place, along with information about which blog(s) was/were commented on, including live links to get to them. One thing that I really wish they would start having, however, is the option of opening new windows so you don't lose the page you're on at the time by clicking on another link. And, speaking of comments, be sure to leave me a comment both here and there if you join. When you leave comments in the comment section here, you're welcome to leave a referral-included link to one or more of your own blogs. Those, by the way, are very easy to make. You simply click on the referrals link at the bottom of most pages there, and you'll be taken to a place where it's BEYONDsimple to design your own links, banners, and buttons. That's all for now. . . |
