Re: I don't believe there was any .............. (Reply to this comment)
by vdamfan
I was delighted to find this posting on the Web.
I am a bit of a latecomer to the velvet tones of Vic Damone, but I do remember him singing very smoothly on a TV film years ago (which must have been "Kismet").
Amongst my favourite songs sung by Vic Damone are "You Stepped Out Of A Dream" "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" "The Pleasure of Her Company" "We Kiss In A Shadow" and the dramatically sung bolero sytle version of "You And The Night And The Music".
"You Stepped Out Of A Dream" is of course very memorably performed by Tony Martin in "Ziegfeld Girl" (1941) with lovely Lana Turner descending the spiral staircase!
Like Frankie Lane of "Jezebel" fame, who died only recently at the age of 93, Vic Damone is a person whose singing talent has enriched our lives.
Regards, Vic. 19/2/07.

I didn't think I'd read the whole thing - but you gave an excellent bio of my favorite singer/actor of all time. Interested in hearing more about the "VIC DAMONE SHOW" - only 13 episodes I believe - but fantastic singer.
Vic gave his last public performance in Florida in 2001 - "superb" delivery and style are a few mild adjectives to describe this talented (at 76!) performer and still handsome as well !

I'm not positive but I don't believe I have ever heard anything from Harry so I can't really evaluate them myself.

........."stretch" on his influence. My mom had loved this guys music. I do remember his version on Ebb Tide when I was a tiny little youngster. After the Bros did it, my mom was always quick to remind me of who did it first.
Great review as always.
