The Bottom Line This ranking is good, but every film should be seen. Why is that, because if they were all made into sequels, there has to be something good about it, right?

I composed a list of what I think MAY BE the best horror movies with awful sequels/remakes spawned after them. Only look at the originals, not the sequels that follow them. In my opinion, they are all big-time fav's, but of course, I had to list them, so here goes...
I will start with 10... (being the least best)

10. Candyman...
I am a Clive Barker fan, however, this movie lacked on what I expected. It was great at times, but it lacked on enough villain history and plot to really makes the sequels stand out. Like on Candyman 2, all the scream queen had to do is destroy a prized possession of Candyman to defeat him and his horror... how lame... The movie in general though is a good 3 1/2 out of 5.

9. Children of the Corn...
Great movie, but lacked somewhat on the plot and stuff. Good thing though it isn't like Candyman... provides enough history to create a sequel, although minorly confusing. Bad thing... the sequels are s*it. But Linda Hamilton's performance isn't bad at all, plus she was wicked in the Terminator movies, so she deserves the credit. 3/5.

8. Scream...
This was an excellent movie. It created enough storyline and history to make the sequels worth the making. However, the first was the best horror movie I've seen in a long time, it seemed to be more of a slick thriller than a good cult flick. The legacy is only what it is now because of the fact that Wes Craven created enough drama, story and history in it to give it what it needed to survive as a legacy in total. I give this one 4 1/2 out of 5.

7. Friday the 13th...
Friday the 13th was real good, but different, because the villain wasn't what I expected, and there seemed to be a change in the movie from the beginning to when we find out the killer isn't Jason, it's his mother, Mrs.Vorhees. It went from hidden-killer slasher flick to a revenge/thriller quickly. That was were it went more-so confusing in what I thought of it then bad.. like it wasn't bad, just different I guess. But the end was weak in a lot of aspects, and didn't make sence.. like how could a 50 year old women be the killer? She looks so small! Not to sound sexist, but it's just (not bad, but) different... hmmm! I still ponder about that one cause I don't even consider it a Jason with hockey mask flick, BTW, the sequels... all of them, are basically s*it, beyond a doubt. 3/5.

6. Alien...
The Alien movies are not really considered horror, but each four of the movies have their own tone. The first is horror. The second is action. The third is sci-fi and the fourth I guess is thriller, but kinda action too. In general, they are all great. I've seen everyone and enjoyed them all, so there are no complaints. But because of the fact that it really isn't a horror movie, and instead of placing it at the bottom of the list where there are other horror movies derserving of their ranks, it will be fine just here. 4 1/2 out of 5.

5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...
I really loved the remake with Jessica Biel. I really did. It had what I thought it would have... the imagery, the scenes, the scares and even the sounds were good. Although, con... it didn't dive into the history too much.. but it was a remake and neither did the first one... so it's quite fine. The remake was excellent too, but different. Like Alien, I really have no nagging about this or the remake, but all the sequel, which may as well be watched for appreciation of Leatherface, can sit on the shelf. Basically, the remake of T.T.C.M. is mine!!!! I give them both, remake and new one.. 5/5.

4. Nightmare on Elm Street...
This has to be my favourite one. Although opinion vary about the sequels, they are all different from the original. When this one came out, it really made some think. Literally, like I couldn't sleep! LOL. Anyhow, Fred Kruger was much more serious and disturbing in this film. In the sequels, he is just using dark humour with each time he somehow is some weird way, kills one of his victims. Like I remember in #3, he pops out of the T.V. and kills that girl. Fred Kruger never did that in the original. If he wants them dead, he will do it by hand (forgive the pun).
Anyway, another fav, although, I would have changed a slight thing or two about the original. I give this one a 5/5.

3. Hellraiser...
"Jesus wept!" I like that line. See, this film was different too because Pinhead and the Cennobite were very creepy looking. Although, the whole drama aspect of Hellraiser was a real drag. I just felt there was something wrong with it in some small way. Plus, the film didn't make Ashley Laurence seem like a scream queen, because that film really didn't need that. Although, I would of included the Cenobities in more scenes, and focused the movie a little more towards their intent. Excellent film, however, I will say SOME of the sequel did really suck. 4 1/2 out of 5.

2. The Exorcist...
This movie is an automatic 5/5. I shouldn't really need to explain why. But I will sum it up in 3 reasons.
III. The movie was state-of-the-art for when it came out in 73 or 74? Cause those s*it 70s horrors (not all being s*it) where beginning to become a drag...
II.It had a lot of controversy which really made the film better in political and social value.
I. It created waves and created a good trend that we still see in this day. And that trend was the horror film that doesn't rely on a masked-killer and multiple deaths to have a good scare. Enough said. 5/5.

MY NUMBER #1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
1. Halloween...
I must of watched this a million times. It is a classic that started up a evolution in horror. I mean, Halloween was the first slasher flick. How can that be beat? And you cannot count the T.T.C.M. as a slasher flick for a few reason, which I will not discuss (you find out). The music and even a lot the sequels where good (2, 6 was ok, H20) where all very good, H20 probably being the most popular along with the original. I have no complaints about this one either, maybe with the exception is could of been longer. But that's ok. I still really enjoyed it and it remains one of my ultimate favs! 5/5

That's it! You've seen them, and if you haven't seen them all, I dare ya!!!!!!
