I purchased a pressure washer from them some months ago, having ordered from them before, and had no problems. Well -- that changed.
The washer did a great job -- for about an hour. I turned it off for awhile, and came back out to use it again. About 30 seconds after powering-up, the PLASTIC sprayer wand developed a lateral crack, which rendered it useless.
I promptly emailed HSN, and was told they'd be happy to ship me another unit -- but would need my credit card number as a guarantee, and I'd need to return one of the units within 10 days of receiving it to avoid being billed. Fair enough -- they weren't running a 2-for-1 sale.
BTW: I asked for JUST the broken part, but the email said their only option was to replace the entire unit, as they had no parts -- but I was free to swap JUST that part or the whole unit at my choice once received. The bad news: reception could take 30 days :(
Well, after 32 days, I emailed HSN again, asking about the progress. THIS time, I was told that I'd have to return the entire unit to them first, THEN they'd ship another (after I'd disposed of the original box, of course -- thinking I'd just swap the defective part and return the new unit in the box it was shipped in). I pointed out that the original email said something entirely different, and forwarded copies to prove it. Their response? The agent made no mention of the original emails, only insisting that due to the dollar value of the washer, their policy was that I had to return it first.
Was the original agent wrong, or, did they just decide to waste my time? Who knows? Even if the original agent was mistaken, however, they should have honored what he/she said, and taken care of the issue. Given that I'd have to pay for a big-enough box and sufficient packing material, not to mention shipping charges to get it there, I wasn't about to spend a cent of my money on a product that failed at no fault of my own.
BTW: The manufacturer, Karcher, was no more helpful. They promised a replacement of the defective part -- in a month, just as HSN said. Here it is 5 weeks later, and the washer is still collecting dust.
