When I first read about the Mother's Day w/o from dionne25 http://www.epinions.com/user-dionne25 , I just couldn't resist throwing in a few recipes and a few thoughts of my own as well. As a mother of 4 beautiful angels, my Mother's Day is always full of sweet gifts, kisses, hugs, and of course fights (you know what I'm talking about??)First, let me start off with a Recipe from my EX mother-in-law. Her recipe is more of a summer salad which would go great with bbqs!
Broccoli Cauliflower Salad:
What you need:
(1)Head of Broccoli
(1) head of cauliflower
(1)medium white onion
mayonaisse and sugar for the dressing
2 cups grated cheese (any kind that you like..I use the mexican blend already grated by Kraft)
bacon bits for topping.
Really simple, all you do is chop up or cut up the broccoli and cauliflower to pieces, dice up the onion, throw in the 2 cups of grated cheese and mix it all in a bowl. In seperate smaller bowl put a cup mayo and then about 1/4 cup sugar and mix (now you want to use the sugar to your on tastes, so do a little at a time until you get the right amount for your liking.) Mix the dressing with the vegetables and top with bacon bits. Chill for about an hour before serving. WAAALAHHH! Its great for the summer time picnics and family reunions!
Chopped Beef Dip : (My New Mother-in-Law's Recipe)
This is one of her all time favorite recipes! Its a dip that can be used anytime, anywhere, and in any setting. Whether, it be for football games, or for family gatherings, this is ALWAYS a big hit!
What you need to get started:
1 package of 8 oz cream cheese (any brand)
1 chopped white onion
dash MSG
dash Worchestire sauce
1 package chopped beef
Another simple recipe throw it all together and mix well. Chill for about an hour, and I always soften the cream cheese to room temperature before mixing. Its great with Ritz crackers!
My Mother's Day Memories:
Let me just start in saying that every Mother's Day has been special to me since I first became a mother in 1995. I have kept every single card my kids have given me whether it was made or bought, I have them in my nightstand drawer. Every now and then I pull them out and glance through all of them again to remind me of how much I am loved by my children. I know they love me, but some days it feels like I'm their worst enemy. I'm sure a lot of you can relate ;) I have never in my life known a greater love than what I have for my children. They are God's greatest gifts to me and I cherish every waking moment with them. I could care less about receiving gifts and would much rather have the hugs and kisses ANYTIME!! I will love and cherish all the homemade gifts and cards as well! When it comes from the heart and soul, that's when you really know they love you. I would like to also add that every Mother's Day I get breakfast in bed which is really special because my children help make it (I have eaten a few egg shells by the way;))
Happy Mother's Day! To each and everyone of you mothers, mothers-in- law, mother figures out there in the world, and know always that someone thinks you are pretty darn special!
