Not "stupid"--just a mild grammatical error.
It does read better corrected when you think about it, but there are plenty of other people who make the same mistake.
I was over 30 before I started spelling shreds properly--until a friend corrected me, I was spelling it shreads.
In fact, old habits die hard, because I sometimes still do and then correct it!
Glad you weren't offended by my picky proofreading!

Those recipes sound wonderful.
One helpful grammar hint:
The plural for mother-in-law isn't mother-in-laws.
Instead, it's mothers-in-law.
That's because it's about more than one mother instead of more than one law.
Not to worry! This is a common mistake.
I was in English major in school, so I can be impossible at times--while, at the same time, making my own grammatical errors.
Anyway, I loved this piece, and I think your family's adorable.
