Re: Not sure... (Reply to this comment)
by captaind
It was kind of meant as a compliment, though really more a matter of fact than anything else. (But I like ya so call it a compliemtn!)
Just wish I could publish the one I wrote a few days ago about joining a WO - haven't been able to post anything in the Member Advice area for a week now! (Hopefully the bug will be fixed before too long...)
Kudos,

Not sure... (Reply to this comment)

...whether to take that as a compliment or not, so I'll just smile and say thanks for entering my humble little write-off!

Hehe... breaking the rules (and getting away with it!) is one of the greatest talents there is...
Actually, your exploits helped prompt me to write this - it made me remember my own disasterous early attempts and how useful something like this could have been!!

Oh, yes, I'm sure you've noticed by now that one of my greatest talents is breaking the rules. Sorry I bent the rules for my entry in your write-off...and I've already been chastised for my own foolish attempt at a cute spring Write-off, being a silly-type-newbie. I have such great panache for jumping in with both feet without testing the waters, necessitating the subsequent placing of both feet in my big 'ol mouth...:))
I like this guide specifically because it is not exhaustive...after all, as you already hinted, too many rules makes Write-offs a dull bore...
Oh, but that's just the iconoclast in me rearing its ugly head.
Thanks for the tips...I'll make sure to (try to) use them next time...

Mobi:
Ah, but that was the clever bit, shocking people by warning them not to be shocked by it! ... erm... at least, that's the story I'm going to stick to now...
Thanks for the info you sent, as always it's interesting and I agree with a lot of it (not entirely all, but you can't have everything). There are indeed one or two aspects of my text that I will update as a results, but after you've actually used them yourself - I feel privileged to have seen such secret squirrel stuff! :-) And I do indeed accept your MobiChallenge - and will be intested in seeing your piece on the history of WO's, I appreciate that you've been around a lot longer than I have so I expect I will learn many things I didn't know from it! (Just waiting to have enough time to give it proper consideration...)
Chers,

Yeah, I can let you off with that. (Nobody really bothers to go by the rules anyway... sigh...)

You're right, it sure is a lot of work (oh good grief I'm even starting to use American idioms now...). Don't do it unless your ready to spend a lot of time on it!!

Still plan to enter your challenge w/o. I hope writing in a subcategory never written in before qualifies...

Cal,
I agree! It sounds like a lot of work to me too.
Dave,
Once again, nice job. You are writing so many helpful advice pieces (especially for newbies) that I'm going to have to start sending new folks straight to your page. :-)

You've made some good points, I've often thought about a write off, but in my opinion it is a lot of work.
