Absolutely, and precisely why I say it is a fine place to have in order to point people looking for suggestions.
Congratulations by the way, though it strikes me as odd somehow for me to say it.
Cheers.

Thanks. I've noticed that lists not only get a lot of nonmember hits over a period of time but also provide hits to individual reviews to which the list links. Sort of functions like an index.

Thanks, Becky. I just found out two days ago that I have been selected for TR. It's silly, but I admit to being delighted. There are so many great folks and terrific writers here in the movie section of Epinions, it's fun to be part of the club.

This is a fabulous list, and not only for the 'romance' side of things, but even simply as a great place to point people for foreign suggestions.
Like others, I don't think I agree with everything, but several would certainly be on my list. I'm particularly glad to see A Man and A Woman, one of my alltime favorites, and The Horseman on the Roof, a movie that I seemed to get much more out of than a great many.
Cheers.

Congrats on reaching 100 reviews! And so soon! Have you been named a top reviewer yet? If not, you definitely should be.
Keep up the great reviewing!

Interesting criteria and interesting choices (Reply to this comment)
by msmarques
Based on your criteria, I think you'd like the currently playing "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Don't be turned off by the idea of Jim Carrey (who gives an excellent non-comedic dramatic performance) or by the science fiction aspect (which is merely a necessary conceit to present the story, which is not otherwise science fiction).
Not in the same caliber, but another interesting French romance is "The Housekeeper" (again, still in theaters).
And one of my favourites, although probably a bit silly is "Amelie".
For something a bit more unusual, although not quite the same sort of love story, see "The Hairdresser's Husband" (not exactly sure of the English title.... in French it's "Le Marie de la Coiffeuse".

I haven't seen any of the three that you mentioned yet, but I'm always interested in new foreign films to explore. I'll keep these three in mind for the future. You may very well be right that they belong on the list!

I really need to get my review finished of Cyrano de Bergerac.
Just outstanding, that one.
As far as that TR hat..well.. I think that will be any day now. Just a hunch. ;)

As much as I admire your excellent reviews, I don't feel we share the same tastes.
A couple of films I'd have in my list, and ones that certainly comply with your rules:
Bergman's Scenes From a Marriage
Oshima's In the Realm of the Senses
von Trier's Breaking the Waves
My sharpest divergence: The Scent of Green Papaya. See my review if you're interested as to why I loathed the film to the degree I did!
-John, waiting for the CL's to put that Top Reviewer hat on your head already.

War and Peace is undoubtedly one of the classics. I was also pleased to see you gave Wings of Desire an honourable mention. Wim Wenders is a genius.
Great list!

Interesting list, (Reply to this comment)

though I think if I did my own, the only overlap would be "Les enfants du paradis."
