One thing to add; the invaluable site, allmusic.com, has long been a great reference when searching, as it has reviews of just about every album you can imagine. Recently, they've added hot links (and an automatic new browser window) that lead you directly to the appropriate CDNOW page.
It makes record shopping an even more carnally ravenous experience than it is for me already.
