Pros:Outside of town. Big rooms.
Cons:Run-down, poorly maintained, ads somewhat misleading.
The Bottom Line: Look into one of the many other options in the Geneva Lake area....you will be glad you did!
I worked at this place right out of high school, and before joining the military. From what I have read here in the other review, and what I have seen in my own recent stay, things have not changed much....well, those that have, they have changed for the worse.
First off, the ads are misleading. They tell you all about the country-like atmosphere and lake access. WHAT THEY MEAN: Lake Como is a rural, farm run-off fed lake about 5 miles from Geneva Lake. The reason it says country-like, is because it is NOT in Lake Geneva. It is in the agricultural area NEAR Lake Geneva!
Okay, that is just minor, right?
The hotel hasn't changed much....same food, same service. Same few decent servers. Same menu selections.
The staff has always been kind of stand-offish. This was one thing I did not care much for. You need something, they will not offer it, they wait for you to HUNT THEM DOWN for it.
Maintenance? I guess you could say they do it, but you would never know it. We had a HUGE stain on the rug from what appeared to be a ceiling leak - thank goodness it never rained when we were there!
ANVAN, the company who was responsible for Interlaken for many years, has done little to modernize this once-upon-a-time Holiday Inn, and it shows. The only thing modern here, is the price of the rooms!
