I would love to be writing a review on how I think the Worldcom Wireless service compares or how their rate plan compares to others, but unfortunately, Worldcom Wireless has lost my two orders for service and I'm not masochistic enough to think that I should go for three. Let me describe my experience with WorldCom Wireless ...
At the end of July 2001 my current wireless contract with Cingular here in California was coming to an end. About that time, I received a mailed offer from Worldcom offering me a free Motorola digital phone and 100 anytime minutes+1000 weekend/night minutes for $29.95 a month. It fit my needs so I decided to cancel my Cingular contract the day after I accepted and signed up for the Worldcom offer on their web site. The order required me to enter the special offer code on the "certificate" and everything seemed fine right through the "Thanks for your order" page telling me the phone would be mailed to me.
A couple weeks later, I called the 800 number for the offer to ask why the phone hadn't arrived. I talked to Brenda who had a deep Southern drawl. Brenda informed me that they had no order from me and that no one had accepted the offer associated with the certificate number I had. Assured that even if I was duplicating the offer, Brenda suggested I sign up again. After a painfully scary process of spelling out such city names as OAKLAND and SAN FRANCISCO and correcting her that it is S-U-I-T-E 500, not S-W-E-E-T 500, I hung up with Brenda somewhat concerned that her spelling atrocities might doom my second order also. I waited two more weeks before using the customer service number Brenda had given me "just in case something does go wrong", because my phone had not arrived. I was transferred from one sales or customer service rep to another with no one being able to find an order for me before I was finally sent to a number that just rang for twenty minutes before I gave up. Most recently, the customer service number no longer accepts calls about their service and I get bounced around from sales rep to sales rep before giving up in frustration.
Save yourself a lot of grief and forget about using this company. How can they even survive if they lose customer orders 100% of the time as they did with mine?? This is obviously a poorly run company that has systems completely incapable of serving their needs. I can only imagine what these systems could be doing with my information right now ... Probably in about four months I'll get a letter telling them that I'm behind on my two cellular accounts and wondering why I haven't paid them!
