by bonnieleigh | May 03 '04
It's been 14 years now, and I've had my own bypass, and can't say I miss her one bit less.

...tribute to your Mom. It's easy to see how much love comes through in your words.

sorry for your loss. Next to losing a child, losing one's mother has got to be one of the most painful things in life. I am sure that if there is an after life that your mom knew tht you heart was with her. My heart goes out to you.

Gee, kath, when it rains it pours, huh? 2004 must definitely be a year of losses for you. Thanks for the r/r/c, and I'm sorry the anniversary happens to coincide with Mom's Day this year. Read and re-read that chapter in "Blessings" and pray, and I'll remember you in my prayers, too. I hope you enjoy loving and pleasant memories of your own mother this week, as - for the most part - I'll be doing! :-)

.....for writing this wonderful piece. It is amazing....it could have been written by me. Our stories are very similar.

My Mom was the best Mom I could have. She loved so unconditionally and never had a bad word to say about anyone. I was blessed to be able to care for her for her last year of life. I do hope that I made it comfortable and warm for her.....but like you, at times I question the things I did or didn't do. Somehow, I think our Moms absolutely knew how much we loved them and that we made the choices that we did to help them.

I think that your Mom waited until you weren't at the hospital......I've heard that very often loved ones won't let go until they are alone.

God Bless and thank you again......oh no, I just realized that Mom's 5th death day is on Mother's Day........ohhhhh, that is a tough one. ....kath

Thanks, Dionne! Yep, no other relationship is like that one, is it? NOBODY else can be a cheerleader, or "make it better" like a mother. Thanks for r/r/c - the feedback does make me feel like I'm sharing my memories of her, and that really does feel like a tribute to her! Thanks for the whole Mother's Day W/O!

I truly believe that our moms know us better than we know ourselves. I also believe that she heard you when you were at her bedside and those tears that fell were from all the loving memories she got to share with you. I believe that even when you were talking to yourself, she heard everything you said.

Your mom sounded like an amazing woman, but then again, most moms are. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us and giving us a chance to get to know your best friend. Take care.

...for writing this wonderful tribute. I know it was hard to write, but this is a very well-written, thoughtful article. Life is so fleeting, but memories live on, and while we share our memories of a loved one, I think that person lives on as well.

Don :)
